s. h. montgomery grew up in a small town in the Texas Panhandle, but lived 30 years in Chicago before relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2003. She is the mother of two children, Montgomery is an avid collector of ethnographic artifacts. She majored in journalism at Texas Tech University, took creative writing at Northwestern University and Columbia College in Chicago, and has written free-lance travel features for weekly and daily newspapers. She presently assists a screenwriter.
