Bobby Tolan Baseball League
<p>My name is Bobby Tolan, former Major League baseball player with 14 years of major league experience. I have also coached at that level and well as managed in the minor leagues. I am forming the Bobby Tolan baseball league here in Houston Texas,(where football is king) i want to change that back to baseball. Some of my honors include being the 1970 MAJOR LEAGUE STOLEN BASE CHAMPION, with 57 stolen bases beating out my former roommate Lou Brock who was 2nd and Bobby Bonds who came in 3rd in the National League, over in the American League i beat out there Champion Bert Campaneris. I was the 1972 comeback player of the year, 1972 Fred Hutchinson Award, team most valuable player in 1974 with the San Diego Padres. While i was batting coach for the Padres i coached a couple of Hall of Famers, Ozzie Smith and Tony Gwynn. Tony said during his Hall of Fame speech that i taught him how to get more BAT SPEED, which helped him win 8 BATTING TITTLES. Ozzie credited me with helping him become a better base stealer. While a roving coach in the minors for the MARINERS i taught Omar Visquel to switch hit, he will be another Hall of Famer when he retires. As a player with the Big Red Machine I batted 2nd behind PETE ROSE for 2 years and we set a record for leading off a game with back to back homerun, we did it 4 times, the 1st time was opening day in 1969 against the Dodgers and Don Drysdale. I have played with plenty of Hall of Famer's like Lou Brock, Johnny Bench, Bob Gibson, Tony Perez, Steve Carlton, Orlando Cepeda, Joe Morgan and Mike Schmidt, Dave Winfield, Willie (pops) Stargell, and Willie McCovey. When the league season is over coaches will select players from their team to form a TRAVELING TEAM, this team will then travel to play in the PERFECT GAMES tournament in Atlants Ga. to be EXPOSED to college coaches and pro scouts. Funds donated by you will go towards all expenses associated with the league, including but not limited to: acquiring fields, equipment, umpires, players, coaches and the PERKS to you.
