Witnessing the shift!

Zofia Hausman was born and raised in London, UK and spent most of her professional career in the music industry. In 2007, during a chance trip to India with her camera, a realization arose that her natural ability lay in photography and this was a path she finally had to pursue. A period of study followed and Zofia achieved a Progression Award in Photography at City & Islington college. Her talent was quickly spotted, which led to her work being featured at the Tate Modern and she went on to have three exhibitions of work.

In 2010 Zofia moved to Philadelphia, USA and found herself amongst a vibrant and extremely active film industry. This was enough to ignite her lifelong dream of cinematography and working with moving pictures. From here, Zofia went on to direct and produce her first piece of work, “The Corner Store Kids”, a short film set in West Philadelphia that highlights the atrocious state of school lunches and why children are relying on the local corner store for their daily intake of food and meals. Starring Russell Simmons and US Congressman Chaka Fattah, it aired on Comcast VOD in the winter of 2011.

In January 2011, Zofia formed Neviah Films LLC, a media production company creating content that raises awareness on social issues and the human condition. Its mission is to introduce new perspectives into public debate to encourage action and inspire "agents of change". Projects include The Agtivists documentary and upcoming web series Sustainable Living 101 and The Femivore Series.

Zofia enjoys the challenge of putting herself out there, winning over the trust of people usually suspicious of media interference and then being able to capture the essence of their unique way of life. She has the uncanny ability to see things as they are and reflect humanity in all its guises. Zofia lives in Philadelphia, PA and has a rescue cat named Miro.
