In 2011, by founding Hawai‘i Women in Filmmaking, Vera has assumed the mission of using media to give women and girls a tool to make sure that their voices were being heard and their stories told. Believing in the importance of forming a community, she has reached out–and still is to help women and girls of all ages to use media for their own needs and respond to the messages and images that surround us in our media-­‐saturated lives.
