Olympic Athlete, Spoken Word Poet, Mental Health Revolutionary
<p lang="en-US"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Corinna West is the founder of Wellness Wordworks, a social entrepreneurship that provides mental health care at a fraction of the current cost. She is using Google's 100 times faster internet ONLY available in Kansas City. Her business offers peer support via video chat, email, phone, text message, or in person. Wellness Wordworks' model, tentatively called, “Connect Power,” is so efficient that peers can pay for their own call-in support, crisis care, and community referrals. This links people in recovery who rarely have access to peer support with peer supporters who often don't have access to jobs. </span></span></span></p> <p lang="en-US"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">She has published articles on peer support, medication optimization, and reforming the mental health system in the Global Journal of Community Psychology and Practice and Schizophrenia Bulletin.</span></span></span></p> <p lang="en-US"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Corinna West is also a motivational speaker and spoken word poet. She has been selected for an Arts KC Inspiration Award, a Creative Capital Proffesional Development Fellowship, and has been an exhibiting artist with the Charlotte Street Foundation for the last 3 years.
