Their short films and music videos, pinned against a gritty backdrop of North-Eastern England, where young women confront the hostilities of sex-trafficking and disenfranchised teenagers learn the power of their own voice, deliver fresh insight into the underbelly of our culture, the modern-day typecast and the production of independent film by young, developing filmmakers nationwide.

Jamie Korn and Chris Bailey head the outfit, and take equal writing credits. While Jamie and Chris play a heavy hand in the asthetic, direction and final edit, each project encourages support from individuals enthusiastic about independent filmmaking. Students from the local universities make up the full crew providing opportunities outside of the lecture halls for nascent filmmakers, actors and musicians to exercise their talent.

Michael Nyman ('Man on Wire', 'The Piano') described TMSMF's 2009 short film debut 'Passing' as "an impressive piece of work, unnerving in it’s simplicity” and as TMSMF celebrate their seconf birthday this year they can also celebrate the commendations received from the Royal Television Society, The Script Factory, EIFF and ShootingPeople.org.

In 2011 Jamie and Chris will continue to dilate TMSMF's repertoire with their second short film, 'Tackle' - currently in pre-production. Pivoting on the plight of a homosexual 16-year old male who must challenge the harsh judgement made against him by his peers, the story resumes TMSMF's negation of misrepresented individuals, classes and cultures.
