Amy Jo Espetveidt: Photojournalist

Starting Quadrophonic Image is a dream come true for me. For nearly 15 years photography has been my life’s passion.

Starting way back in the tenth grade – when I wasn’t bothered to drop the photography course I got slotted into – working as a full time photog has been the aspiration of everything I’ve done until now. This has included attending SAIT Polytechnic’s journalism program where I majored in the much sought after photojournalism stream, interning at the Winnipeg Free Press, traveling to the Big Land where I worked as a news reporter and later editor at The Labradorian newspaper and learned everything I could at running a business while actually running one. There were many bumps in the road and it wasn’t a straight one. To get here I have taken the road less traveled and am better for it.

My work – both written and photographic – has been published internationally and has appeared in many newspapers including the St. John's Telegram, the Calgary Herald, the Brandon Sun, the Winnipeg Free Press and C-ing Magazine. I have worked for Transcontinental Media, the Canadian Press, Hallmark and the Canadian Armed Forces.

And now, well now I’m starting fresh, starting new.

At Quadrophonic Image my goal is to give you exactly what want in an image. Shooting from the hip as a news photographer taught me the importance of rolling with the punches, always having great and usable images and meeting deadlines. Working as a retail manager taught me the importance of talking to your customer, finding out their needs and doing everything you can to make it magical for them. The military taught me to go the extra mile, climbing that mountain and getting the result. All my life experience lets me see through the lens in a unique manner. I think about the shot, I know how to get it and I capture it.

Amy Jo Espetveidt
Quadrophonic Image
