<p>Patricia easily fits into the category ‘international filmmaker’. She is the daughter of Dutch-Indonesian-Czech-Chinese-English parents, born and raised in the Netherlands where she studied Latin-American Studies and she lives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil since 2007. <br /> Patricia’s first employer was Dutch National Broadcaster <span class="caps">NOS</span> Radio and Television where she worked as an editor/reporter turned coordinator at the Foreign News Desk. After twelve years of working for the <span class="caps">NOS</span> she decided to follow up on her dream to produce and direct an independent documentary in one of Rio’s most notorious favela’s. Under her direction three young men and a girl show the unique beauty of their favela in the documentary Cruzeiro (2008). The documentary premièred at the British Museum during the London International Documentary Film Festival (<span class="caps">LIDF</span>) and screened in cities such as Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, Bangkok and Qatar. Patricia wrote a book about her experiences in Rio called <em>Rio’s Andere Kant</em> (Rio’s Other Side)(2009) for Dutch publishing house Conserve.</p>
