<div id="biography"> <p>After graduating from New York Institute of Technology in 1979 with a BA in Communications, Doug went right to work in the television commercial business. Four years later he started his own production company, McAward Productions, Inc., in New York City. In 1988 he moved to Connecticut to take over a special effects studio/production company and expand its roster from a single director to six.</p> <p>As an independent producer and director, Doug has produced both short and long format projects for clients such as AT&T, Pepsi-Cola, Coca-Cola, General Electric, Avon, Toyota, Texaco, Playtex, GoodYear Tires, Bayada Nurses, Jaguar, General Motors, Make-A-Wish Foundation, CT State Lottery, Holiday Inn, Movado Watches, Sears, Food & Wine Magazine, Showtime, Canon Copiers, Dow-United Technologies, Travelers Insurance, Casey Family Services and many others.</p> <p>In 1990 Doug was elected to the Executive Council of the Connecticut Association of Production Professionals (CAPP), an industry trade organization that represented 150 businesses and individuals in the film, video and media industries in Connecticut. This led to an eleven-year stint as a member of the Connecticut Film Commission, the last eight years as Chairman. Doug went on to author and successfully lobby for numerous pieces of legislation designed to benefit the film, television and audio industries in Connecticut including the 2006 legislation that created the 30% Film Tax Credit program that has generated over $800 million of new television and film production in the state.</p> <p>Doug is currently in production on a documentary entitled Vanishing Culture, which is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the cultures of the Native Peoples that have inhabited Alaska for over 15,000 years.</p> </div>
