Writer / Director / Producer
<p><span>Richard Trombly is a screenwriter and director currently developing the Chinese-language feature film THE JOURNEY HOME and the short film ANALYSIS. He is from the Belchertown, Massachusetts, USA where he attended the University of Massachusetts and studied film, theater and literature. He was a business journalist and editor for national-level publications including Associated Press and The Hollywood Reporter. </span></p> <p><span>He arrived in China in 2003, originally working as an editor for the Shanghai Daily newspaper and since that time has returned to his interests in film and stage. He has appeared in CCTV television shows, TV advertisements, National Geographic films and several movies including THE WHITE COUNTESS, MARCO POLO, THE PAINTED VEIL, MILK and FASHION and others. He has written and directed several short films in Mandarin Chinese and is a professional scriptwriter. He co-founded East West Theater, Shanghai's oldest locally based English language theater company and produced several shows put on by the troupe. He also is a producer with Shanghai-based Meiwenti Productions where he has sponsored and produced short films from the independent film community.</span><span> He is a director with credits including several short films and Co-Producer of China Venture Films feature films Milk and Fashion and Distance Runners. He recently was the Producer of the low budget horror film The Ghosts of Old Shanghai by director Eric Heise.</span></p>
