Ashley Nicole Black has been an expert in blackness for almost 30 years. She has lived as black for her entire life, as well as being raised by black parents in the presence of black siblings. Ashley has a BA in Theatre and Performance Studies from University of California Santa Cruz, where she was an accomplished Only Black Friend to many. She also earned her MA in Performance Studies, and Graduate Certificate in Gender Studies at Northwestern University, where she got even blacker.
