Giving voice to those without a voice
<p> </p> <p> Amilia is the Director of Someone Worth Accepting Now, and the founder of The Butterfly House, a safe refuge for women and children. She is a survivor of domestic violence and abuse and has spent many years and hundreds of hours of trainings to understand the dynamics of domestic violence and how to be an empowering advocate.</p> <p>Amilia is the mother of five children, and two step children and is now married to a wonderful and supportive husband, who adopted her first three children from her abusive marriage.</p> <p>Amilia leads several domestic violence support groups, provides continual trainings for support group leaders and speakers. She offers lay conseling and daily email or phone support to women who need help with relationship issues.</p> <p>Amilis serves on many local committes to organize community awareness events that focus on domestic violence and abuse.</p> <p>Amilia has used her Pain for Purpose in speaking throughout the community including Az State Senate, media oulets, schools, churches, police stations and other support groups.</p> <p><br />Amilia has recived many local awards and recognition for her efforts, including the Courage of Conviction Award, Attorney Generals Award, nominated for the Thrive Award, and has been asked to speak during victims rights week for the Az Governor.</p> <p> </p>
