This young demographic is the future of Iraq. They are the country’s future leaders, human rights defenders, journalists, and activists. EPIC seeks to to empower Iraq’s youth to promote peace and positive social change by developing safe space for learning and growth. Through Outdoor Education, Storytelling and the Arts, and Advocacy, we hope to help lay the foundations for a peaceful and prosperous Iraq.</div> <div class="mhl"> </div> <div class="mhl"><strong>Overview</strong></div> <div class="mhl"> </div> <div class="mhl"> <div id="id_500d5adcd24b12069351044" class="text_exposed_root text_exposed">Since 1998, the Education for Peace in Iraq Center (EPIC) has worked to improve human rights and humanitarian conditions in Iraq.<br /><br />Today, EPIC is promoting peace and positive youth development in Iraq through high-quality youth projects that reach young people in Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan, through strategic partnerships with Iraqi civil society and key allies in the public and private sectors, and <span class="text_exposed_show">through Washington DC-based advocacy.<br /><br />EPIC supports, designs, and implements youth and peacebuilding initiatives that offer young Iraqis unique opportunities to learn new skills, gain knowledge, develop their leadership and teamwork abilities, share stories and form friendships with peers from different backgrounds and areas of Iraq, and contribute to a more peaceful, interconnected, and prosperous Iraq.<br /><br />EPIC also works through media engagement, public outreach, and advocacy to support organizations and community-based initiatives in Iraq that are bringing desperately needed hope and development to tens of millions of people affected by war.</span></div> </div>
