Valencia James

Performing artist exploring the world of film and site specific work

<p><span>Born in Barbados, where she first started training in ballet and jazz. Since 2004, she has trained in modern dance in Cuba, at the National School of Arts, in London at Roehampton University and obtained her BA in Dance in 2010 from the Hungarian Dance Academy in Budapest. Valencia has participated in numerous workshops and festivals such as O Vertigo dance company, American Dance Festival 2010, and Deltebre Dansa 2012. In Spetember 2012 she was invited to participate in Ultima Vez Dance Company's first 3-week Research Program. She presented her own choreography in several international stages including the 13th International Solo Dance Theatre Festival in Stuttgart. Valencia has worked with choreographers including Antonio Gomes, Ian Douglas, Dora B&aacute;rta, B&eacute;la F&ouml;ldi, Rita Gobi, Kata Juh&aacute;sz and Wim Vandekeybus. Based in Budapest, Hungary, she is a member of the Yvette Bozsik Company since December 2010.</span></p>
