<p>I have been a teacher for 31 years. I have taught secondary special education for years. In fact, I taught it well before Nicholas entered my life. Nicholas has Down syndrome and autism. He is 15 years old and will soon enter a vocational training program.</p> <p>Most vocational training programs do little to really train kids like Nicholas for post school work. That is why I am so passionate about this project. If it gets funded, I am going to retire and run this program to help my son and others like him to learn how to be productive workers in a real job.</p> <p>I personally saw the frustration of parents who saw the lives of their children change after high school because the opportunities just did not exist. &nbsp;Something like this project will make a difference and bring hope to hundreds.</p> <p>Personally, I am also a road bicyclist. I have rode in the Hotter N Hell 100 in Wichita Falls, Texas numerous times, rode across Georgia, taken many tours of 200 to 300 miles as well as other events.</p> <p>I am married to Lea Ann and have 3 older children who would love to see Nic get this project to work in.</p>
