Her most recent film "Trip the Light Fantastic" is the recipient of the "Excellence in Experimental Film" and "Excellence in Editing" awards at NYU's 2010 New Visions & Voices Festival, and continues to make the rounds to festivals throughout the country. Warren has worked for acclaimed directors Spike Lee and Mira Nair, assisting on projects such as <i>Passing Strange</i> and HBO's <i>If God is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise</i>. She is currently working as an assistant to Emmy-award winning filmmaker Lisa Russell. Warren began her own film work with social issue documentaries examining local youth in Minneapolis; "Mogadishu in the Midwest," about local Somali immigrants, and "Mix it Up," about multiracial teenagers, which received recognition at the YoungCuts International Film Festival in Canada. Warren was Teen Curator of the 2007 Girls In the Director's Chair Film Festival at Minnesota's renowned Walker Arts Center. At NYU, Kaliya has directed several student films in additional to "The Grown-Ups" and “Trip the Light Fantastic,” including "Prudence," "What They See," and "Waiting." <br></p><div><br></div></div>
