Yellow Bicycle Films

I'm Jenny Roberts, a documentary filmmaker from Pocomoke, MD. Currently, I am getting my Masters in Film from Ohio University.

After graduating from Monmouth University with a TV production degree, I became interested in documentary and entered the film program @ Ohio University in the fall of 2009. Under Yellow Bicycle Films, I have created short narrative and documentary pieces of varied themes, from an intimate portrait of a buddhist bike taxi driver in "The Pedicab Driver", to a story about a young girl named Harper who learns how to love in "Beggars," to my own experience backpacking in the Grand Canyon in the personal documentary "Baby Games." In your face honesty, unusual circumstances, and gut-wrenching epiphanies seem to appear in most of my work.

"Pieces of Tangier" will be the first film I've made with an intention to inspire change. For a time, I distanced myself from projects that would place me in some pretentious role of "hero filmmaker." I did not think I had the right, nor did I understand my place behind the lens with other people's issues. Today, I embrace the idea that your intention when making a film can be a worthy reason to get involved. It's all in HOW you do it, and most important WHY. Approaching people with sensitivity, and having an open mind to listen are for me the biggest considerations to take. I am grateful for the chance to get to know the residents of Tangier Island and look forward to the discoveries.
