My GIST Journey

I'm a newly diagnosed GIST patient. Im a 37 yr old dad and fiance, I work 2 jobs to try and make ends meet and now on top of the regular daily grind, I have to deal with cancer and Chemo that costs approx $1000 / week.

I was diagnosed on April 24th, 2012 and had 15% of my stomach removed on June 1, 2012.

On july 24th I received an AMENDED PATHOLOGY REPORT from Sunnybrook Hosptal in Toronto telling me that I am evaluated as HIGH RISK for progression of the disease and that I need to start CHEMO (Gleevec pill) immediatly. This medication is about $1000/week and i have to take it for 3 yrs.

I have started a blog with my story to help you understand just what someone with Cancer goes through from diagnosos, surgery and pathology to Chemo etc

http://jasonsgistjourney.wordpress.com/
