In 2001, Bustin Boards founder Ryan Daughtridge made his very first skateboard in his dad's barn.  A few years later he was in New York City making uniquely engineered longboards designed for pushing around the city faster.  He became obsessed with making boards that would push further and smoother, and soon opened the first Bustin Labs location in a 3,500 loft just outside of Manhattan.  Since then the Bustin Boards Company has hand-crafted over 100,000 custom boards for riders all over the world.

In 2016, Daughtridge began working to electrify the experience and in 2018 Bustin Boards released their Hybrid-Electric Skateboard right here on Indiegogo.  The unique push+power hybrid boards have since become one of the most popular e-boards on the market and catapulted Bustin to be an industry leader in the PEV (personal electric vehicle) space.  In their Maryland shop, the Bustin team hand-builds each Hybrid board to the exact design spec of the customer and, over time, has perfected their build process and electronics programming.

In early 2021, the Bustin team was introduced to LaScoota, an award winning push-scooter company based in California.  They discussed a concept that would combine Bustin's skate designs and electric technology with a lean, minimalist scooter design.  The idea was to make the electric skateboard experience accessible to EVERYONE, in particular those who felt more comfortable with a handle bar.

Almost two years later, the final Skate-X is realized and it's even better than either company had imagined.  And while it's brand new to the fans, the DNA of this scooter goes back through every phase of Bustin Boards and LaScoota's celebrated history of product design.
