Short Summary
A maniacal clown named Art, terrorizes two young women on Halloween night and everyone else who stands in his way.
Hey guys,
I'm Damien Leone, director and special efx artist from Staten Island, NY. My new film Terrifier is a full length horror film featuring Art the Clown; the main villain from the 2013 film All Hallows' Eve.
About five years ago, I made a short film entitled Terrifier (not to be confused with the full length feature we're campaigning for here). It was about a young woman who witnesses a gas station attendant being brutally murdered by a clown on Halloween night. What ensues is a game of cat and mouse as the sinister clown relentlessly stalks and attacks the woman as she desperately tries to escape. My intention was to make a kickass short, submit it to festivals and throw it on youtube with the hopes of a Hollywood producer finding it and writing me a big fat check so I could make a full length version of Terrifier. Well, it sort of happened...
A producer did stumble upon my short on youtube because it was gaining a lot of views. Although it wasn't Hollywood, I was given a proposal to incorporate Terrifier into a super low budget anthology with other short films all centering around Halloween. It wasn't a chance to create my dream vision of a Terrifier feature but it was my first opportunity to have a film released on dvd. Needless to say I accepted the offer and the result was the 2013 film All Hallows' Eve. All Hallows' Eve did bring positive notoriety to the Art the Clown character but i feel it by no means does him justice. If that character has proven anything, it's that he deserves his own film without the burden of other short stories being centered around him and a slightly bigger budget. Terrifier (the full length feature) will be his time to shine and hopefully earn him a seat at the table of horror icons.
I've started this indiegogo campaign because no one believes in this character more than the fans. With your help, we can make one of the scariest, goriest and most intense horror films ever created and hopefully catapult Art the Clown into the horror stratosphere.
What We Need & What You Get
The good news is, we've already raised 85% of our budget thanks to an investor but we still need additional funds for some essential cast and crew members. At this current stage, the director of photography and myself can't even afford to pay ourselves and a few key crew members a dime from pre-production all the way through post production.
Now you might say, well at least you get to make your damn movie! That's true but realistically movies take at least 6 months to make! If we don't make any money we have to take other side jobs while filming to pay the bills and that takes away crucial attention and dedication from Terrifier which can result in an inferior film.
The most important thing to the producers and myself in this campaign is to make sure that whoever donates gets the most bang for their buck. We know money's tight these days so we're ensuring that the perks you receive are really badass! We want to give away as many "physical items" as possible so you feel as if you actually bought something for your contribution as opposed to just seeing your hard earned money disappear.
Since I'm a special makeup efx artist, I will be using my skills to make a slew of custom memorabilia such as replica props from the film, hand sculpted and painted Art the clown funkos, 1:16 scale "Art" mini busts and full scale "Art" busts all with signed certificates of authenticity by myself and "Art".
We will also have autographed dvds, screen worn "Art" attire, producer credits, opportunity to be an extra in Terrifier and much more!
Last but not least is the macdaddy perk. 5 donors will get a chance to actually choose any way imaginable for Art the Clown to dispatch a victim. (Method must be agreed upon by me lol I'm sick but who knows what insanity you guys can come up with) My crew and I will then create the fx for your kill scene, hire an actor to play the victim and film Art doing whatever nastiness is required. These scenes will then be featured on a bonus section of the dvd and dedicated to the contributor, e.g. "Art kills for John Doe." If you want, you can even play the victim!
The Impact
The great thing about donating to this project is that Art the Clown has already struck a chord with horror fans. There is a respect and love for this character already and people see his potential. I feel it is my duty to deliver a film that lives up to their expectations. Trust me If I had the money, I would have made this film a long time ago but unfortunately, making movies is so damn expensive. Hopefully enough of you out there can spare a few bucks, get your name in the credits and help my dream become a reality. Thank you all for the support!
