Overview

Okay, y'all. We haven't done a crowd-funding campaign in, what, 5 years? We're now doing 9 shows a year, PLUS web shorts, PLUS a monthly show. All of these need props, costumes, sets, advertising, rehearsal space, photographers, videographers, and techies. We're also aiming to do another musical this December, and while we've acquired the rights to Once Upon a Mattress, paying for that ALONE before even getting into production costs would be $2500. If you can donate, do. It not, come see a show!

Sour Grapes Productions

As a female-owned theater, we do everything we can bring our voices to the stage. Between our two co-founders, we work about 5 jobs in order to pay NY rent AND do our theatrical productions. We've created our Shakesqueer collection, which adapts Shakespeare pieces into productions that include LGBTQ+ characters into the leading roles. We have a monthly mime show at The Tank. We do a yearly New Years Eve show. and a ton of other projects throughout the entire year. But the world is expensive, and in order to pay people properly AND make sure our shows are something our casts can be proud of, we need more money than we can ever find.

What We Need

While we know that we're not going to reach our full goal (theater people mostly know other theater people, and we're all starving artists out here), here's what our expenses usually are:

- $150-$250 tech PER PRODUCTION
- $300 costume budget per production
- $150 props budget per production
- $100 season-long stage makeup budget
- $300 season-long advertising budget
- $2500 performance rights (one show per season - rest are original pieces)
- $400 instrument rental, musicians, etc (one show per season)
