"An extraordinary story that goes further in depth within immigration and domestic violence. Throughout the story you will get to know Sandra, who is willing to do whatever it takes to protect her children."
SYNOPSIS
2,500 kilometers from the U.S. border is Jesus Carranza, Mexico. Within this small town lives Sandra, a young mother of two, who is faced with the toughest decision of her life. She must choose between trying to fix her relationship with her abusive husband or run away to the U.S. to chase after the American Dream and live a better life.
PICTURE THIS
Can you imagine if something were to happen in your life that would force you to leave everything behind? Leave behind the people you've always known and the places you have been. Leave behind the memories you've made and the stories you've grown up writing for yourself. The best way to describe it is to think of your life as a book. All your life you have been writing up the chapters that make up who you are. What if we told you that you needed to close your book and start over? For some people, this is what their life is like. Due to circumstances, they are forced to leave their home country and never get a chance to look back.

In some cases, one of the reasons people have no choice but to leave is due to domestic violence. We, as a crew, believe it is important to tell this story on behalf of the people who aren't fortunate enough to do it themselves.
THE IMPACT
- Nearly 11.6 million immigrants from Mexico reside in the United States, accounting for 28 percent of all U.S. immigrants.
Mexico has one of the highest rates of gender violence in the world, with 38 percent of Mexican women affected by physical, sexual or psychological abuse, compared with 33 percent of women worldwide.
Immigration is a very common issue that derives from several causes. 2500km is a story that talks about one of those causes which is domestic violence. In most cases, the oppressing violence and poverty are what drive people to leave their home. They believe that leaving to a new place will relieve them of such horrible circumstances. Very often, immigrants go to the United States because of their desire to pursue the American Dream.
We think that it is essential to give life to this story through the art of filmmaking and get it across to as many audiences as we can. By doing so, we'd be able to shine a light on two of the biggest problems happening in Latino America: violence & immigration. By spreading awareness on this matter, we hope we can begin a movement and put an end to these pressing issues.
