Carissa's Story

On April 23, 2013 Carissa Tillman was diagnosed with Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma, or FHCC for short. After doing some research, we learned that FHCC is a rare liver cancer that was not even researched until the 1980's and was not named until 2010. There are only about 200 confirmed cases world wide, per year and the average age is 23 years old. As there is little research for this type of cancer, treatments are limited to clinical trials.
