The Premise

A Fool’s Paradise chronicles the story of an intelligent and highly imaginative teenager named Mitch, a high school student in mid-90s England. After having been tasked to study the Shakespearean classic Romeo and Juliet, Mitch begins to discover similarities between the play and the situation he’s found himself in with his unrequited love, Daisy – a fellow student with whom he is enamoured. Unfortunately for Mitch, Will, the love rival, schemes to get in his way and have Daisy all to himself. Told through the eyes and imagination of Mitch, A Fool’s Paradise presents the classic love story but with a brand new twist.

What We Need

As our final year degree project, we are determined to create a world both our characters and audience can be truly immersed in. Suggesting a period is one thing, but to give it the polish to really do our story justice we need your help. Whilst all our crew members have invested in A Fool’s Paradise to secure most of the money we need for the bare-bones, production design lies at the heart of our vision and we don’t want to scrimp on it.Pogs, the Spice Girls, GoldenEye- if it was cool in 96’, we want it in our film. Mitch’s fervent creativity allows him to fantasise what life would be like were he Shakespeare’s tragic Romeo, and for brief moments of the short we see the cast as Elizabethan adaptations. Alas; such things ne’er did come cheap. As well as extensive costume and set design any money generously donated will be further utilised to provide a composed soundtrack, hair and make-up, post-production costs, location fees, transportation, catering and specialised camera and lighting equipment. Any money raised over our goal will be used to enter the film into festivals and give it as much exposure as we possibly can.

What You Get

As a ‘thank you’ for your donation, we have a range of perks available. From printed DVDs to tickets to our exclusive premiere at the University of Hertfordshire’s Visions Festival, in which our film is in the running to win the coveted Kubrick Prize, we hope you’ll find something you like.

Other Ways You Can Help

Apart from giving financially, if you have any skills or services that you think might be of use to us, if you'd like to sponsor us or if you’d simply be interested in helping out as an extra, please do let us know.

We know that not everyone has money to contribute but if not and you would like to support us please spread the word to others who may be interested, we'd be very grateful. Sharing tools to do so are located at the top of the page.
