"My name’s Alice Green. It’s not my real name, but if you knew what was going on,
you’d understand why I need to be careful. Adults warn you your body will start going through “changes” when you get older.
Yeah. That happened—a while ago.
This is different.
I’ve been infected with something I can’t fully explain—bio-luminescence—
fluorescent energy. I can’t control when it appears. It’s volatile, and that’s what scares me the most.
I hope, for your sake, this never happens to you or to anyone you care about.
I hope you will never wake to discover this fire burning beneath your skin—this spark of living, breathing color crackling through your veins."
Fluorescence is an upcoming 4-part YA book series about a group of teenagers who are Implanted with glowing alien DNA which grants each of them unique and powerful abilities, but may also jeopardize the future of the human race.
For art to thrive, it needs to be seen. Read. Touched. It’s about getting it into people’s hands.

But without a massive publishing house and a limitless budget, that's tough!
YOU can change that!
This series is UNIQUE and offers growth potential in a stagnant marketplace.
With a plot stemming from a unique and original sci-fi core, there's nothing quite like it on the YA market today. It fills a niche that hasn't yet been conquered in YA - sci-fi.
Each volume in the series is narrated by a different character, driving the story forward in a new and exciting way for readers.
Fluorescence evolves from a quiet beginning into a gritty and unabashed look at real-life limitations and struggles these teenagers face while coping with a life-changing secret.
Q. So if Fluorescence is so groundbreaking, why does it need funding?
A. Good question! The answer to that is simple - funding = marketing. Marketing = the ability to build a fan-base and gain an audience, which in turn, can = success. Think about it: how many books/movies/TV Shows, etc. would you have found out about or purchased if you'd never seen a commercial/flyer/or other promotional blurb about it? Probably few to none.
No matter how good something is, if no one knows it exists, it can't make an impact. This doesn't mean it's not a good product, it often only means the marketing failed.
The success of this book, upcoming installments and myself as an author, relies solely on getting

I'm P. Anastasia. I’ve been a writer for as long as I’ve been able
to write.
Most of all, I’ve been a storyteller. After a long mid-life
struggle with debilitating, art-killing, writer's block
inducing depression, I decided to turn my life around.

Last
year, I made the decision to move away
from the tedious, unsatisfying and under-appreciated work I was doing
for a
living and finally take the plunge into what I’m here to do – tell stories that have never been told before.
Stories that excite and inspire others. The very basics required to produce a quality, polished novel are expensive. Editors. Illustrators. ISBNs. Proof copies. Web hosting. Social networking. Promo materials... not
to mention
countless hours writing, re-writing, editing, researching,
advertising, web design work, and hiring and interviewing editors and
artists. I've had to invest nearly $5,000.00 of my own hard-earned savings just to get this project off it's feet.

With so much media bombarding us every day, getting books into people's hands is tough and yet CRITICAL for success! This
is ESPECIALLY true for newly published authors. I need to be able to
show people what a great idea I have. I want you to be able to pick up a
copy of my book, say HI to me, and get a first hand look at how much
work really went into this awesome story. This isn't something I can
accomplish by sitting at home!
The following are a list of a few of the conventions I will attend if I meet my goal (So people will actually SEE my books!):
This is ONLY table/booth rate + hotel accommodations.
-
Lexington ComicCon 2015 ($150)
-
FandomFest 2015 ($150 + hotel = $400)
-
WizardWorld ComicCon 2015 ($325 + hotel = $575)
-
DragonCon 2015 (THE BIG ONE!) (Booth $550 + Hotel ($600) = $1,150)
Extra costs:
Convention preparation and necessities:
- Booth/table banner and signage ($150),
- Shelving ($125)
- Tablecloth ($50)
- Gas ($30+per con)
- Food
- Paperback stock for conventions ($550)
- Promotional items ($300+) to give away! (Bookmarks, postcards, biz cards)
Additional MARKETING (If funds allow):
- Newspaper and magazine ads. ($35-$400 - depending upon distribution/market)
- Convention programs ads. ($30-$250)
- Facebook marketing and social media advertisements to promote the series. ($100/Month+ Targeted Ads)
The Impact
I'm taking a plunge. Following my dreams. As an entrepreneur with over 14 years of experience in freelancing, sales, and writing, I've stepped up to challenges and been successful in the past. I'm not one to back down simply because things get tough. I'll see this through as I've seen through all the previous challenges I've met!

Yes. There are risks. The main one being: If I am unable to get my book out there, it likely won't be successful. That's the bottom line. One of the biggest mistakes (besides not hiring the professional help of artists and editors) many authors make, is they fail to market their books effectively!
- I'm going to attempt to sign up for a vendor table at DragonCon, but if for some reason, I don't get one (they sell out) , all related expenses will be put toward marketing and promotional materials, as well as additional stock to be submitted to various review websites and possibly an ad in the DragonCon program. This will STILL get these books noticed and into people's hands. FB ads, Google ad words, buttons, promotional flyers and other items. The possibilities are endless.
-
If I don't reach my goal, I may have to forfeit two smaller conventions or forgo DragonCon (it will depend upon scheduling), but hopefully, that won't be the case. It's one of the largest conventions on this side of the country!
-
If I can afford to attend these conventions without having to move into a cardboard box, I'll not only get noticed, I'll be able to get a better feel for my market. What people want to see more of in the FUTURE. I'll be able to produce better merchandise, posters, and other items YOU want to buy! Things that will allow you to stay immersed in the universe I've created in this series.
