Who Am I?
I'm Adam Hendey! I'd like to say that I'm a member of the rising generation of new Celtic musicians. I'm primarily a whistle player, but I also play guitar and bouzouki, bass, percussion, and some other fun things. Over the course of my journey through music, I've experimented playing jazz, classical, rock, hip hop, and other folk musics, but Celtic music has always been my home.
I have a serious interest in writing, performing, and studying Celtic music - both its traditions historically, as well as its status as an evolving, contemporary culture.
My first real step in pursuing this passion is producing this album. I've made so many close friends through this music. I can't wait to show all of you the tunes I've been writing, and the style of playing - the musical voice - that I'm developing every day.
My Goal
In order for this album to become a reality, I'm going to need $5000. This money will go towards funding time in a recording studio (which I've already booked for the month of September), mixing, mastering, production, CD distribution, and compensation for guest artists.
I can't thank you enough for believing in this project, but there are some fun things I can do for you. In exchange for supporting this album, patrons can receive digital downloads; physical copies of the album; honorable mentions in the liner notes; private lessons, either in person or via Skype; personal tunes (which could potentially be played on the album!); private house concerts; recordings of a Napoleon Dynamite quote of YOUR choice; and much more!
In the event of the sad possibility that we do not meet our goal, whatever money is raised will be put towards producing the album, though perhaps at the expense of luxuries like featuring guest musicians. But no matter what, we'll make this album happen, and I think you're going to enjoy it.
Our Objective
For too long, Irish music has slowly relegated to the realm of the academic interest, remaining unchanged for fear of straying too far from convention. I want this album to help change that. As a young American who, nevertheless, plays this traditional, non-American form of music, I have a unique perspective of what this style's potential can truly be.
I want to make this music new again, and with the help of my friends, I'm sure we can do it together.
Spread the News!
We only have thirty days to raise $5000. To meet this challenge head-on, I ask you to share this campaign with as many people as you can. Even if supporting the album monetarily isn't an option for you, the biggest thing we can do for this project is to raise awareness.
You have all given me so much, and I want nothing more than to give this album to you... So I'll ask you now to give just a little bit more. Thank you so much for honoring me with your support.
