About the film
Have you ever had a shiver run down your spine as you walk into a dark room?
Have you stared into a long shadowy hallway and been overwhelmed by the feeling that there is something lurking in the darkness, watching you?
Fear of the dark is one of our first fears as a child not just due to our lack of vision but all of the possibilities the darkness holds.
What lies beyond the shadows? What is waiting for us?
So what if it wasn’t just a feeling? What if there is something hiding in that darkness, watching and waiting?
'After Dark' is a short film about an evil spirit that, not only lives in the shadows, it is bound to it. It can only move freely in darkness – so it brings darkness.
We follow Isabel Clarke, a young woman in her mid twenties as she moves into a new house. Once a social person, she has become isolated and withdrawn. She is beginning to question the choices that she has made as she struggles through tough times in her relationship with her fiancé James.
Little does she know that her troubles are only just beginning.
About the project
We're really excited by this project, which is our final film assessment at Deakin University. We've been tasked with producing a 8-10 minute short film, which will be screened at The Astor Theatre, and in addition submitted into short film festivals.
Our team is very hard-working, but we need your support to fund the project. There's a lot that goes into producing a film, and we want to ensure we can deliver the best film we can.
What We Need & What You Get
To make 'After Dark' a reality, your generous donations will fund the following elements of our production:
Talent
'After Dark' would not be possible without very talented actors. Our actors are going to be spending quite a bit of time with us on set, and we certainly want to make it worthwhile for them, as they have given up their time and their talent for us.
Fuel
We'll be relying on our own vehicles, as well as the vehicles of our talent and volunteers, and petrol is certainly not cheap. To get equipment, props, sets and people to and from our location each day, we need our cars, and our cars need petrol!
Catering
To get the best performance out of everyone involved, we need to feed them! The whole team will be spending a lot of time on location, and just like our cars, our people need fuel too.
Wardrobe & make-up
We want to achieve realistic special effects make-up to help carry this story. All part of our goal to make a premium film.
Sets & props
To create the 'After Dark' setting, your donations will contribute to dressing the set and purchasing props.
Post-Production
To make a film that is fit for the big screen, we'll be hiring a skilled colourist who will grade our film. In addition, we may need to invest in other elements which may come up during the post process.
Other Ways You Can Help
Thanks for checking us out! Even if you can't donate, you can support us by sharing our campaign to your friends. We want everyone to see our film, and so sharing allows our project to be exposed to more people, and increase potential funding opportunities.
