Overview
In Alternative Facts you play as a Spokesperson to the White House. You’ve been summoned to a press briefing to answer some heavy hitting questions from the media but OH NO, you haven’t been briefed on what to say! Luckily the President himself has just handed you his notes on the matter just as you’re walking in front of the camera. Try your hardest with the note you’re handed to convince the media of the Commander in Chiefs plan. But be careful! If the press are not convinced you may be fired!

Alternative Facts is fun Ad-Lib Debate Game, a mixture of Who's Line is it Anyway and real world political debates!

In Alternative Facts: The Game you have to convince your friends that you can solve real world problems with purely idiotic suggestions.

You play a grossly under-qualified Spokesperson to the White House who's been summoned to a press briefing to answer some questions from the media.

You're scared and you have no idea what you're supposed to say but WHAT'S THIS? The Commander in Chief has just handed you his personal notes on the issue just as you're facing the media...

Lie, deflect and debate or face getting fired!

110 Cards. Aprox 1 hour playtime. 3+ Players.

Main Phase:

At the beginning of each round you draw a Newsflash card and place it on the center of the table, starting with the player least qualified to work in government and going clockwise you each take turns as the White House Press Secretary blindly drawing an Alternative Fact card from the deck.

They must pitch to the other players (the media) using the notes they’ve drawn on their Alternative Facts Card by whatever means they can to support their argument.

At the end of each round all Players (The Media) must discuss and vote together on what was the least convincing argument.

The loser of that round then gets the Newsflash Card, 2 Newsflash Cards and a player is fired (When playing with 6+ Players only 1 Newsflash is enough to get a player fired).

Fired Players now cannot win but still get votes in the upcoming rounds as the media.
This continues until there are 2 players left and it moves to the End Phase of the game..

End Phase (2 Players left):

Once it’s down to two players it enters the Political Debate phase of the game.
A Newsflash Card is placed in between the final players, the Media now takes turns allocating new Alternative Fact Cards, switching between players changing the direction of their argument as dictated by the Alternative Fact Cards placed in front of them.
The Media must change the Newsflash card, moving onto a new topic at their discretion as long as both players have had the chance to answer the Newsflash at least once.

First player to laugh loses.

Winner should send their resume to the White House as you’re a damn good Liar!

Why did we feel the need to make this game?

In the current political climate where lying to the media using "Alternative Facts" and the active repression of science, logic, reason and compassion is the norm we felt this game helps demonstrate the absurdity of the situation.
Hopefully this game can be used to highlight the important role that the media plays in politics and reflects the problems of a government that's grossly under-qualified to lead.

To make this game happen we need to raise enough to pay for the minimum print run and actually get the game into your hands. This is the majority of what the funding will go towards, getting that first run out!

We also need to pay artists and designers to get the game looking nice and pretty!

But the job doesn't end there! Getting the game out there and in front of people takes time and money, we plan on taking this game around to conventions so people can learn about how ridiculous Alternative Facts actually is and help to bring that political discussion into a space that's usually void of Politics.

10% percent of any profits made after costs from this Crowdfund will be donated towards the ACLU and NILC.

There's other ways for you to help promote ACTUAL facts rather than Fake ones, ways you can do this include donating directly to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)
For almost 100 years, the ACLU has worked to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States.

or National Immigration Law Center (NILC)
Established in 1979, the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) is one of the leading organizations in the U.S. exclusively dedicated to defending and advancing the rights of low-income immigrants.

Other than the game itself we're also offering people the chance to put themselves in the final version of the game!

Pledge at the "Become the News" level to submit your OWN Newsflash Card to be used in the final copy of the game with your name also displayed on the card.

Newsflash Cards must be 30 words or less and respectful.
Newsflash card submissions will be discussed and finalized after the campaign has finished.

And it you want to for some reason you can own the very same hands of the President used in the video! Spray painted cheap gold and hot glue gunned onto a cheap plywood board this ugly little thing isn't likely to structurally last for very long.
Just like the real thing!

We're going to be adding Stretch Goals soon, check back for more information!
