America's Parade - NYC Veterans Day Parade 2013
Since 1985, the United War Veterans Council (UWVC) has continuously enhanced New York City’s Veterans Day Parade and has successfully grown it into the largest celebration of service in the nation. From its lowest ebb, when Vietnam Veterans braved oncoming traffic and received only indifferent glances from passerby’s, today, AMERICA’S PARADE marches on!
The Parade’s march up 5th avenue represents the very best of our nation. In this modern age where the majority of our interaction is detached, the Parade represents a physical opportunity to unite in common cause; to honor service! In addition, the Parade serves as a universal platform for veteran’s organizations and service providers to promote and generate support for their most important work.
This year, hundreds of thousands of men and women like you are lining the parade route to cheer on 46,000 marchers as the Parade is broadcast into 30 million homes across the nation on FOX Television and MyNetworkTV. Marchers include veterans of World War II's "Greatest Generation" through to the modern warfare veterans of Afghanistan, Iraq and the Global War on Terrorism. Of special note, this year’s honored service is the US Army, represented by General Ray Odierno, the Army Chief of Staff. Serving as Grand Marshals are General Ann Dunwoody, our Nation’s first ever-female Four Star General, and Anthony Principi, former Secretary of the VA.
Help us continue our #ForwardMarch @AmericasParade! We ask that you join us in ensuring that the Parade remains vibrant and continuously improving. In honoring service, assist us in keeping our nations focus on those who have selflessly served even after our contemporary wars fade from the headlines.
By contributing, your contributions will help us offset costs for floats and vehicles to transport our elder (World War II & Korea) and disabled veterans up the Parade route; transportation and support for Gold Star family members (those who have lost a loved one in service); training and supplies for our Parade volunteers; printing of posters and signage to raise awareness about the parade; assistance for student veteran organizations to participate in the Parade; transportation for youth participants to/in the Parade; promotional support for veterans organizations participating in the Parade... and much more!
Every dollar helps us honor our Veterans! To show our appreciation for your support and welcome you into our Veterans Day Parade family, if you contribute:
$25 - You will receive a certificate of appreciation from the UWVC and our Veterans as well as an official copy of the NYC Veteran's Day Parade Newspaper.
