There was a vision in July of 2016 to form a project in which we could explore modern metal music without limitations. We’ve all been in bands of varying styles and goals so we really took the time to figure out what each of us could put on this clean slate. In fact, it was about two months before any of us picked up an instrument. The biggest ongoing struggle in any band is communication. With this in mind, we prepared with in depth discussions on the overall vibe and a business model based on what worked and didn’t work in past bands to push us to the next level. This common ground was the foundation for diving into the writing process. Some of us had plenty of riffs. Some had skeletons of full songs. And others could arrange these ideas to convey the overall vibe. What came out was a healthy blend of virtuosity and simplicity. So basically, can we create music that’s technical and still flows smoothly with a purpose? In October of 2017, we released a single titled, “The Chamber,” showcasing everything we are in one tune - heavy, catchy, shreddy, and dynamic. Throughout this time period, we were polishing material that was shaping up to be an EP. More shows, more writing, more demoing tunes. Communication was strong. Once it came time to officially record all of this material, it was quickly realized that this endeavor had the personality of a full length album. From March-July of 2018, the Of Conviction LP was finalized. We worked with the finest engineers to make sure it shined even brighter. Adam Bentley of the band, Arch Echo, mixed the album and then it was sent off to be mastered by Ermin Hamidovic of Systematic Productions (Periphery; Devin Townsend).
For those of you contributing, you’ll notice in the liner notes that this is technically a 2019 release. Yes, the album is officially being put out in the new year. But you’ve been supporting us at shows and hearing us hone in this material. You’ve been watching it come to life. And it’s FINISHED! So why would make you wait? The CDs have been ordered. And these next 30 days are an opportunity for you and for us. For you, we want you to hear our album immediately and own it. So you’re getting what you put in. And for your support, we’re able to afford this endeavor in the format and magnitude that you deserve. “The Chamber” described us in one sentence. Of Conviction tells our story.
