Hi, I am Jeff Aug, an American guitarist and Guinness(TM) World Record holder living in Germany and currently active as a solo acoustic instrumental fingerstyle guitarist, the guitarist/vocalsist in the rockin´ acoustic country blues duo Dead Tuna, and the guitarist for the British artist Anne Clark -- who is currently taking a break from touring.
I have released albums with my rock band Sorry About Your Daughter in the 90´s, as well as two acoustic instrumental albums with my duo Floating Stone, five solo acoustic instrumental fingerstyle guitar albums, three albums as the guitarist for Anne Clark, one DVD with Anne Clark, and have been featured as a guest on the Atari Teenage Riot album "Is This Hyperreal?" among others.
As a solo artist, I have set the Guinness(TM) World Record for "the most concerts performed in different countries in 24 hours" twice (2009, 2012); have toured as support for Allan Holdsworth, Soft Machine, Carl Verheyen, Alex Skolnick Trio, Johnny A., moe., Scott Henderson, and many others; been featured on the NPR program "Weekend Edition," and reached #1 position on the iTunes Acoustic Music album charts.
Releasing solo albums without a major label backing your production, marketing, and promotion is not an easy thing to do, especially when producing the recording on a professional level is expensive, most PR campaigns are out of reach, and album sales are very low in general.
At the end of the day, I am still motivated to get this album out. This APE SHIFTER album showcases the best electric guitar playing I have ever recorded and the compositions will make bodies move!
After setting the electric guitar aside for a few years, I picked it back up in 2008 when Anne Clark decided she wanted some electric guitar in the mix (I had been playing strictly acoustic guitar in her shows). Almost instantly, my fingers began to crave the electricity shooting through my veins when the lines, phrases, and riffs would hit the front-of-house speakers during soundcheck. For the last 6+ years, and after having been inspired by the great artists with whom I was touring, I felt I needed to release an instrumental rock album. At that moment, APE SHIFTER was born.
APE SHIFTER started rehearsals in November 2015. We hit the studio in July 2016 and laid down the tracks for our debut release "Ape Shifter." On March 3, 2017, I am releasing the APE SHIFTER instrumental rock debut "Ape Shifter." This time I have decided to reach out to you – my friends, fans and supporters – to help me with the funding of the new album prior to its release, and at the same time to give you the chance to be the first to acquire the new album via a pre-order.
In addition to the APE SHIFTER release, this campaign will offer you the possibility of bargain deals on my last two solo albums "Living Room Sessions" and "Wedding Song."
