Aurora Theatre Company is excited to present their
third annual summer outdoor musical - "Oliver!" Artistic Director
Scott Francis made his dream of creating a theatre in his hometown, a reality
when he created Aurora Theatre Company and joined forces with The City of
Shoreline. ATC presented their first production of "Into the
Woods" in 2014. The show was presented in an outdoor amphitheatre setting
at Shoreline City Hall and was attended by over 1600 people. Francis and The
City of Shoreline mutually decided that all tickets to the production would be
free of charge to everyone. Providing free tickets to all has enabled everyone from
avid theatregoers to low income families, senior citizens and anyone who
simply cannot afford to go to Seattle area professional theatres, to
enjoy a high quality musical production. In 2015 ATC presented
"Fiddler on the Roof" which was a featured event of the annual
Celebrate Shoreline festivities and the show was seen by over 3500 people. We
expect to break that record this year with "Oliver!'
Since
we offer our tickets free of charge, virtually 100% of Aurora Theatre Company’s
operating budget comes from sponsorships, grants and donations from indiviuals.
Building a theatre from the ground up each year is both exciting and daunting.
From designing and building sets, costumes and props – to renting lighting and
sound equipment, it is a challenge that we meet with each production. ATC also
offers a small stipend to everyone connected to each production. For “Oliver!”
that includes 22 actors, 14 musicians and an artistic staff of 10.
We would like to keep offering our
high quality productions Free of Charge to one and all. For this to happen we
need the support of our community and the generosity of people just like you! Since
Aurora Theatre Company is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, contributions
are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. By choosing to support us, you are
continuing to improve the lives of people in this community through the power
of theatre – and we cannot thank you enough.
Please peruse the “perks” that we
are able to offer those of you who make a donation! We applaud all of the
wonderful businesses who have donated gifts to us, to help us raise the funds we
need to produce “Oliver!”
Here is a note from Shari Winstead
(former Mayor of Shoreline and currently Deputy Mayor): On Friday night I
attended opening night of Aurora Theatre Company’s production of “Fiddler on
the Roof.” What a fabulous production! Truly theatre at its best – the choreography,
singing, live music and acting were all superb! It truly is a must-see! Besides
being a top-notch professional production – it’s free! Yes, that’s right! Of
course there is a suggested donation, and we hope that once people see how
great this production is they will generously support Aurora Theatre Company.
The night will leave you feeling great about Shoreline’s support of the arts, one
of the things that makes our City such a special place.
Should you choose not to donate here, you can donate directly to us on the Support Us page on our website.
