So, How Does it Work?

Both the XP Defender and XP Reactor are non-digital, silicone ear plugs. Their design is simple, but they are constructed by some of the most experienced and professional sound engineers in the hearing industry.

XP REACTOR

The filters for the XP Reactor are designed to let in low level passive sounds to allow you to have "normal" hearing whether damaging loud or intermittent sounds are happening around you or not. They provide an intentionally low NRR rating of around 8 dB for passive attenuation. When loud noises occur, the combination of disc and mesh inside of the filter provides an impulse noise reduction of as much as 33 dB. This happens instantaneously without requiring moving parts.

XP DEFENDER

The XP Defender operates the same way as the XP Reactor. The switch simply allows you to change the plugs into full defense mode. Making the passive attenuation up to NRR 18 dB. Impulse reduction remains about the same up to 33 dB.

The XP Defender has a special sound valve that can be opened and closed by a small switch. This makes it so you can seamlessly go from protecting your hearing to hearing what is going on around you clearly. It’s that simple; open the valve to hear, close it to protect.

 The filters let you to customize your hearing experience through swapping out filters that are specifically made to be worn in certain situations. For example, if you are a musician earplugs might be necessary, or if you are going to a concert, you would insert the “music” filter into your XP Reactor plug. This “music” filter would filter out all of the harmful noises and frequencies that you will experience at loud concerts while still letting  you comfortably hear the noises around you.
