Update: I've put the most obvious question first.
The menu at b.o.s. is not Urasawa-expensive. Why is my goal so high?
Indiegogo's minimum funding is $500. I would have loved to set it as
low as $100 to help it get fully funded. That said, I have set this
campaign up for flexible funding, so even if I don't reach the campaign
goal of $500, I can put what I receive, minus the 9% Indiegogo fee and
3-5% payment processing fees, toward a dinner at b.o.s.
Who am I?
I am apparently someone who asks and answers my own questions. I go by
The Offalo online. I regularly post my meals to my
Instagram feed. I'm also a daily participant on
Chowhound. I love all things offal, but I also love sushi, ramen, dim sum, tacos, etc. Really, if the food is good, I will eat it!
Why did I create this campaign?I've been thinking about ways to fund my blog. I'm not at a level to really monetize it, but I thought at the micro level, perhaps I could get individuals to fund me on a case by case basis. So this is an experiment to see if I could be successful at crowdfunding a single review.
Why should strangers fund my dining out?I am hoping that those who find
my blog informative or entertaining will attach some value to it and want to help support my ability to try new restaurants and report back on them.
Why did I choose b.o.s. for this campaign? My blog, while not offal-exclusive, is offal-focused when it can be.
b.o.s. is one of the only, if not the only, offal-centric restaurants in L.A. I thought it was a good fit for my inaugural campaign.
Note: The "b.o.s." photo used in this campaign is from b.o.s.'s
Instagram account, used with permission. b.o.s. does not officially endorse or support this campaign, though I'm sure they would like it to succeed since it'd bring them a customer.

Answered above.
What is my "internal" funding goal?
My personal funding goal is $150. b.o.s. used to have a $85 or $95 "omakase" (chef's choice), but it is no longer offered on the regular menu. However, I've heard that a tasting menu in the same price range can still be prearranged, so $150 should cover that cost, plus tax and tip, after all the fees have been assessed on the fund.
What if the campaign doesn't reach that goal?
Whatever amount I get, I will use it toward a meal and write something about my meal. Even if I only get $5, I will find a tacqueria and buy a lengua (beef tongue) taco or two and review the heck out of it!
What if the campaign exceeds my goal?
I don't realistically expect that to happen. If I exceeds my personal goal by a modest amount, after eating at and reviewing b.o.s., I may put any extra money toward my webhosting costs and fulfilling any perks earned by my contributors.
If I still have funds to spend, then I may decide to dine at and review additional restaurants, or I may have my wife or a blogger friend to dine with me at b.o.s. I'll cross that bridge if I come to it, and I will definitely ask my contributors to help me decide.
