The Hendersons'. Sean Kylie Sam (12) and Josh (11).
We are just an ordinary family living in the heart of the BIG Australian Outback.
Passionate about inspiring people to get out and see the world around them. We also love things that are a bit quirky, like BIG Things! We also like meeting the people behind these BIG crazy roadside icons.
In 2011 we became the first 4 people to travel Australia on a Trike, riding over 22,000km through sun wind and rain with a goal to see over 125 of Australia's estimated 160+ BIG Things... we want to finish this BIG Mission.
Our entire trip has been filmed with the intention of making a Documentary/TV show once we complete the final 60+ BIG Things.
Kylie and Sean both film and present, they are the crew and the cooks, Sean drives the bus and Kylie does the washing, the boys pitch in with all of the above too. Kylie is the editor of all film work and the researcher of all BIG Things facts.
The first BIG Trip was on a Trike. We no longer have a Trike (we are sad about this) But we did pick up a BIG old Orange BUS which we needs a bit of work to get on the road
We will have just 33 Days, to see 66 BIG Things and to drive over 8000km.
We cannot express what it would mean to be able to finish this BIG Things Tour and to be able to share our CRAZY BIG Adventure with the world.
If this is possible you never know whats next... The BIG Things New Zealand or even The BIG Things USA.
$3500 to get our BIG Orange Bus on the road. (Tyres, Rego, Insurance etc)
$1900 for Diesel Fuel to travel the estimated 8000km
$1650 for camping fees for our 33 days on the road
$1650 to feed the crew the very most basic food (they will be stoked)
$6300 for editing and production of the final Documentary project when we return
If we don't reach our entire goal we will use the funds to complete the BIG mission and the filming and will seek additional support or perhaps crowd fund again to produce the documentary.
We have stacks of quirky BIG things for our supporters, the craziest may just be the chance to have your name, or your business name painted on the BIG Orange bus... yep engraved on there for all to see. It stands out BIG Time.
We have quirky T-shirts and a BIG Tour thanks page on our Website.
We will be doing shout-outs and in-general just encouraging you to get on board, follow us and have a lot of fun. #thisisBIG
The Impossible Dream??....To complete the tour on a 4 seater OZ TRIKE (just like we began) would be the ultimate so if you have a Trike you don't use and you can donate to us for the adventure or if you would like to contribute a cool $45,000 this would see us geared up to ride..... and for our supporters, we will paint your names all over our BIG Trike Trailer.
The Impact
LOVE Adventure LOVE People LOVE Life
Everywhere we go we find people are inspired by our journey whether it be families, grannies or international travellers backpacking the globe.
We believe that our quirky but very real account of an ordinary family achieving an extraordinary dream encourages people to get out of the house and check out whats around them. The natural wilderness and the crazy BIG things man has built in amongst this beautiful BIG creation.
Being able to meet so many unique people and share the stories of the BIG journey that is their life is probably one of the gems of this BIG Tour Concept. Our fascination with the BIG Things always leads us to ask what matters most to people... Life is an Adventure and it's one that should be had.
We haven't always made the best choices, in fact our past is littered with total stuff-ups. The decision to put everything on the line, including our lives, when we took on his BIG Challenge is one decision we have never regretted, it's cost us a lot and has made us nothing but we would never swap the experience we have shared together for anything in this world. #thisisBIG
