In October of 2015 movie-maker Christopher Paul Garetano set out to create the definitive motion picture regarding what is perhaps the greatest unsolved mystery of our time: the legend of BIGFOOT.

INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTOPHER ON COAST TO COAST AM

Message from Christopher:

Hello Folks,

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my campaign. It's important to make clear that I'm not looking for funding to get BIGFOOT started. We're already deep into the making of BIGFOOT but we could really use your help. My productions (including Montauk Chronicles) have always been genuinely independent motion pictures. That doesn't mean that I had hundreds of thousands from private investors or that it was simply made outside of the studio system. What independent really means is that I'm a guy who works completely alone, most of the time, and with my own hard earned money.  I am usually fortunate enough to have a few loyal helping-hands when I really need them.

The truth is, working alone is partially preference (in regard to freedom) and partially necessity. It's either I make movies in this situation, or I don't get to make them. Movie making has been my passion since I was five years old and I have never looked back. It's not a weekend thing, it's my full time job.

My picture, Montauk Chronicles, is known around the world and has been mentioned along side much more expensive movies. In reality it was made mostly in two small rooms, in the murky depths of a suburban basement and with very little money. It was made with thousands of hours of hard work, ability, dedication, and critical creative thinking.

BIGFOOT is much larger in scope than Montauk Chronicles and we're going to need a few things to get the job done properly.

There are two main reasons for this campaign. One reason is that my vision for BIGFOOT is so unique that I sincerely feel that it NEEDS to remain an independent production.

The second reason is that this project is too large, and too important for me to handle completely alone and with our current budget. We're used to making every dollar count so the 20,000 dollars, that we're aiming to raise, will go a very long way.

This has NEVER been an "all or nothing situation" for us. We're going forward, as always, with what we have and we really hope you join us on this project.
The money raised from this campaign will expedite the production schedule, increase the crew, and will enable us to complete the entire picture by the fall of 2016.

Like Montauk Chronicles the final cut of BIGFOOT is going to reach people all over the globe.  You, as a contributor, will help us bring it there and you will officially become a "micro-producer" on this powerful motion picture. BIGFOOT will stand apart from anything that has ever been made on the subject.

 Our movie will express, in part, how we as a species lost touch with the wilderness. It will revive old fashioned storytelling and the wonderful mysteries of our world . Bigfoot will also show the viewer the significant and very current research on the subject of the Sasquatch, and how close to a reality this so called "mythical" creature is nearing in 2016.

We will take you back to the legends of the Native Americans and then to the frontiers of an early America.  BIGFOOT will be an experience that you will revisit more than once. That's sincerely our goal. It's to create a timeless piece of cinema for years to come. Outside of several good books there is nothing like this in the world and certainly nothing like it in the world of TV and cinema.

Our goal is to raise at least $20,000. 

You might not think that's much for a feature-length docudrama, with tons of unique special-effects and long elaborate story sequences, but the entirety of MONTAUK CHRONICLES from beginning  to end (including post-production) cost that exact amount.  In my experience it's not so much the money that makes a good movie. It's how you use the money and how creative you are with it and your materials.

BIGFOOT is a much larger beast than "MONTAUK."

For starters, we have several more shooting locations to deal with, larger cast, a larger crew is needed, more special make-up effects, stunts, weapons and pyrotechnics.

 We've already completed over a quarter of the documentary scenes and we are prepared for the remainder in terms of script, design, and ability.

These scenes will be carefully designed and beautifully crafted avoiding the blurry and shaky style of today's "reality show" reenactments.

BIGFOOT's budget is mainly for pre-production, production and post production of our historical interpretations and eyewitness recreations.
These scenes include but are not limited to:

1. Native American legends and tales of the Sasquatch.
2. A full cinematic recreation of Theodore Roosevelt's "Bauman" story.
3. The "Ape Canyon" attack at Mt. St. Helens.
4. A full cinematic recreation of the Patterson/Gimlin Bluff Creek Incident.
5. Tales of the Genoskwa.
6. Tales of the Skunk-ape.
And much more.

Our budget will be allotted in several categories that include but is not limited to:

1. Special Make-up Effects/Creature Design: (for the full design and creation of three distinctly different Sasquatch.)

These are full-body special effects suits that will also require an elaborate custom headpiece for each actor.
    A. The "Bluff Creek" Sasquatch (Patty)
    B. The Roosevelt creature (Genoaskwa-type)
    C.  The Florida "Skunk Ape."
    D.  We also plan to re-dress and re-configure the previously mentioned suits for                the "Ape-Canyon" scene.

2. Wardrobe:  We're going to need the proper dress of each period for each actor that appears in the picture.

  A. Native American Dress (early to mid 19th century)
  B. Roosevelt and Bauman (periods in the mid to late 19th century)
  C. Ape Canyon (1920's prospector/trappers)
  D. Bluff Creek  (1950's mountain/explorer )

3. Equipment and Crew:

    The scenes that we have planned are larger than what we've worked on in the past so we're going to need a bit more help and more equipment.

A. SOUND. We're going to need to hire a proper sound mixer/recorder as well as a boom operator. This will include additional sound equipment.

B. CAMERA AND LIGHTS.

I am the director of photography, camera operator, and lighting cameraman on all of my work. I usually do this, in addition to every other major job but this time I'm going to have to hire some experienced help to be my camera and lighting crew.
This will also include additional
equipment.

4. ON SET STUNTS, WEAPONS, and ANIMALS.

 There are several scenes in BIGFOOT that call for well coordinated stunts, weapons live rounds of (BLANK) ammunition and animals such as horses and donkeys that will need special care and handling.

All of the above are the main categories but of course we have to feed our crews, and secure places for them to stay. We have to secure permits for particular locations like Sagamore Hill where part of our Roosevelt scenes will be created.
