From day one we've been very focused on our commitment to deliver an excellent product on time.
Manufacturing is a complex and demanding process. We've chosen a manufacturing partner with lot of experience in the field, who has guided us through the process of choosing the right molds and materials, selecting the right factories, etc.
Initially we wanted to launch our campaign by Q4 2015. We realized how important it was to be able to guarantee delivery dates and have our production chain set up before launching the campaign, so we took some time to get everything just right. We are confident in the quality of our components, as well as the speed and reliability of our manufacturers.
Now we have everything set up for production. Our aim is to raise $15,000 for our first batch production.
We will deliver on time. Guaranteed!
If our campaign is successfully funded and Birdiepics are being taken around the world, our focus will shift to building a second version of Birdie that will allow other cameras (including smartphones) to take aerial photography.
The team behind Birdie
We are a team of Uruguayan engineers who have been working in the tech industry for a long time now.
As early adopters, technology fans, and enthusiastic travellers, we've worked on projects ranging from drones, NFC and value added services and platforms for mobile operators around the globe.
Shiran Engineering, a well known design company, with more than 25 years of experience taking products to the market, has joined our team.
While we’ve come far for an incredibly small team with a minimal budget we’ve almost reached the finish line. We need your help in making this technology a reality.
FAQ
1) What’s Birdie ?
Birdie is a gadget for your actioncam that let you take aerial pictures in a simple and fun way. When you take pictures with Birdie, it feels like playing a game, and you get amazing pictures from a new perspective.
2) Does Birdie include a camera ?
No, Birdie does not include a camera. You will need your own action cam, its corresponding housing and thumb screw to insert it into Birdie and take pictures.
3) May I use any camera with Birdie ?
GoPro HERO 3+ , 4 and 5 are supported.
There are some other actioncams that have the same housing as the GoPro Hero 3+ or 4 that may work as well, but these have not been tested. We are planning to add support for other cameras and mobile phones in future development of the product.
4) What will I receive exactly if I buy a Birdie ?
You will receive a carry bag, a Birdie base and six Birdie arms with a fabric that joins them together.
The base and arms are made of plastic, and the bag and arm’s fabric are made from parachute fabric.
The base includes a nut in order to support the GoPro case screw easily, and foam coverage in the bottom.
5) Are there several colors available for Birdie?
Not currently. Birdie v1 has a white base and arms, and orange fabric and foam base coverage.
6) Do I need to be strong to throw Birdie up?
Birdie is lightweight, and easy to throw. Throwing Birdie 2-3 metres in the air is enough. It’s designed for men, women and kids 10 and up.
7) Can I use Birdie anywhere?
Birdie works anywhere! It has been tested on the ground, sand, water, and snow. To get the best results we recommend using it outdoors on a sunny day. Lots of light helps to get better pictures.
