Moldova has been a ghost country for lots of years and
many people don't even know this piece of land exists, some still are thinking that Moldova is part of
Russia and they wonder why our national language is Romanian.
Even if this country is unknown for the international community, there are many good life stories in here.

The story we are about to shoot takes place in Moldova, in 1991, after the collapse of Soviet Union and the local war that has created a conflict zone called
Transnistria.
Director and Author Natalia Shaufert: "I have been writing this scenario for almost two years and my necessary wish was to rediscover the truth about the sad events that happend in 1991 through personal stories of people that have lived those times.
The film team consists of
young filmmakers and film school students. Each one of us is volunteering, investing energy and passion for the realisation of this project.
Most of the crew members were awarded for short films and have
participated in different film workshops."

Synopsis
"My heroine is a 30 years old lady, Galina, who
lives with a grumpy aunty and wishes to find the right man, fall in love have kids
and a happy family. She works in a tailory with 3 other women: Clava,
Vera and Ana. One day, coming to work, Galina finds out about "Birja
Nadejda" , a matchmaking agency from the 90's. She takes the challenge,
registers and in a short time she meets Andrei that marries her and after a while she gets pregnant.
Andrei is a veteran of the soviet-afghan war that has no
major and work experience other than being a soldier. He gets mad when his wife
announces him about the pregnancy because he is not able to financially support his
family.
Here comes the time when the conflict between Moldova and
Transnistria begins. Andrei is hired as Sergeant at that time not knowing, yet,
what exactly he is signing up for. He
becomes one of the mercenary hired to fight against Moldova and its people.
Andrei disappears from Galina's life unexpectedly,
leaving in his house an amount of money taken in advance.
Clava's son (Galina's coworker) studies at military school and all the
students are called to be involved in this undeclared war. In a short period of
time the radio announces the death of 10 young boys of 18 years old, one of
them is Colia, Clava's son.
In Andrei's absence Galina meets Sergiu, he finds out
that Andrei is fighting against Moldova. Galina takes Andrei's money and gives
it to Clava for Colia's funeral.
The war ends the day Galina gives birth. Transnistria
is declared Moldavian
Soviet Socialist Republic.
Andrei can't forgive himself the betray to his
homeland; after four years Galina loses hope that Andrei is alive and marries
Sergiu.
When Andrei returns, there is nothing he can
regain back."

I believe art is the best way to interest people to
investigate and discover themselves. By bringing on the screen the real events of
90's that happened in Moldova, this movie intends to enhance people’s awareness
about their past and the consequences that can affect our future.
I am pacifist this is why this film will not
show any war movement, everything will be understood through the media and
dialogues of the people that are not involved in the war personally but their life's were
affected by the Transnistrian conflict.
The budget:
A feature length film which action takes place in the
90s;
We have to do scenography in each location;
We are in need of clothes & costumes of 90s;
40 shooting days of shooting during 4 months;
The lease of 17 locations;
Food and travel expenses;
3 main actors, 4 supporting roles, 11 episodic roles,
and about 150 extras.

Our project is valuable to the world because,
first of all, the situation that are indicated in the movie are actual. The
internal conflict that right now has Ukraine with Russia is really similar with
that one that Moldova has in the past. The movie shows the psychological and
social part of the state conflict concerning native people. Demonstrating how
political part affects the life of simple people, we can put people to
contemplate about those kinds of situations.

If we do not reach the necessary Budget, we plan to
film the first chapter of the film, and apply for GRANTS. It is a very good
chance to win an amount of money but this will delay our production for at
least a year. The risk is that the actors may not look the same, and the change
might be visible from one scene to another, as well as locations. So we truly
hope that you will contribute with any possible help in order to help us finish
shooting this film.
