Short Summary
My name is Alex Probst and I am an independent filmmaker from Lexington, KY. A few months back, I wrote a short film called, "Le Pomme". A dark short about a man who looses his mind to love. I sent it to the actor who I wanted to play the lead role, and he immediately fell in love with it. He later asked me if I considered turning it into a feature film. I wasn't sure If I was ready for that challenge, but I took a risk and started writing the script. Three months later, I had the first draft written, and it's title changed to "Bitter Sweet".
The story follows Aidan Burch. Having been living it up as a bachelor after a recent divorce six month prior, the realization of the divorce starts to take toll. Nothing he does can help mask the pain of his pathetic life. Working a deadbeat job, living alone, and not having custody of his only child; self-loathing forces him to follow in his father's alcoholic footsteps. Feeling helpless and out of options, he walks the road of depression and makes choices that alter his life completely...
What We Need & What You Get
The script is finalized, and I will be directing the film, as well as shooting and editing most of it. We have our cast, we just need to shoot. We just need $5000 to make this film happen. If you're an beginner independent filmmaker, like myself, you know the struggle.
If we reach our goal of $5000, we will get the best equipment we can get to make this film happen. We're going to need the money for food, locations, props, camera equipment, sound equipment, lighting equipment, the soundtrack. The list goes on.
And what do you get? If you contribute just $10 dollars or more, you will get your name in the credits, as well as a digital copy of the final film.
If you contribute $100 dollars, of course you will get a digital copy of the film, BUT we will get you an investor credit as well!
The Impact
If you are an aspiring filmmaker, you know how hard it is to get your name out there and make something great. My dream is to make films that not only I enjoy, but others enjoy as well. Film is more than just moving pictures, to me, it's a way of life. This film has something everyone can relate to, especially if you've gone through rough times.
Risks & Challenges
With every great project, there are risks. The biggest risk for us, is giving our audience something they will love. Since this is my first feature film, and is the biggest project I've taken on, it's a challenge for sure. I love taking risks and facing challenges, it's what makes us succeed. And I give you my word, I will put my heart and soul into each second of this film to make it the best it can possibly be.
