Black Happy's Friendly Dog Salad & Peghead... get the vinyl treatment!!
If you were a fan of the Northwest music scene in the '90s, there is no doubt that Black Happy was at the top of your list of "must see acts". They were bombastically enthralling, energizing and captivating for those lucky enough to catch their live show. The band instantly welcomed you into their club and managed to celebrate being a geek long before it was cool.
In 1991 the band released their stellar debut album, Friendly Dog Salad and followed that with 1993's acclaimed Peghead. Albums that were simply a must-have for any fan of well-crafted, enthusiastic, rock n roll
Now, in 2018, Latent Print Records & Black Happy are proud to announce we are reissuing these fine albums. On vinyl. For the first time. Both will be deluxe on colored vinyl. Friendly Dog Salad will be a single LP and Peghead, due to it's length will be 2LP gatefold album!
And because I know you are wondering... yes, there are indeed plans for reunion shows to support these reissues.
Now, in order to get all this done we need to hire an engineer to remaster the album, a graphic designer to re-create the artwork, and ship it off to be pressed to vinyl. All pretty standard stuff for a vinyl record release, really but still costs a penny or two. In addition we are required to license the albums from Sony (who own the rights to the Black Happy catalog) which, as you can imagine, adds a little bit more to the costs of making this happen.
So, here is where you come in... to thank you for your contribution to this project, we've come up with some pretty cool rewards that I think you'll enjoy and will hopefully make this experience a great one for you. In addition to getting Friendly Dog Salad and Peghead on deluxe colored vinyl, we're offering up vintage show posters, t-shirts, & cassettes from the '90s, tickets to exclusive private shows, and even Peghead mini-flying discs (legally we're not allowed to say the brand name... but, it rhymes with shmizzbee)
In the weeks and months to come we'll be updating you on the progress of this whole thing... how the artwork is coming along, behind the scenes at a practice or two, and a maybe some cool other surprises as well.
Please help us in spreading the word to anyone you think may be interested and feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Make sure to check out the Latent Print Records and Black Happy Facebook pages for the most up to date info, pictures, etc.
