BOSTON
HASSLE is one of the three main components of the 501(c)(3) non-profit BRAIN Arts Organization. Our mission is:
Foster an innovative, compelling, and interconnected music, art, and film community in the greater Boston area through grassroots and inclusive participatory culture.
Boston Hassle is a COMPLETELY VOLUNTEER-RUN project that constantly interacts with, participates in, writes about, and generally shines a light on Boston and New England's art, music, and film communities!
We cannot throw this festival without your support! We are a group of individuals united by a love of art and infused with a DIY
spirit that guides us in making this and all of our other events
and projects happen. We serve the artistic
community of Boston and New England and we aim to show through this campaign that
our community believes in what we do.
By
supporting Boston Hassle and our biggest event of the year, Hassle Fest 6,
you can ensure that our organization and all of its artistic, community-minded
initiatives get the most exposure that they will receive all year. You'll also
be helping to guarantee that a seriously amazing and eye-opening music festival
has the support that it needs to be as wonderful and exciting as it possibly
can be!
What We Are Asking For
We
are trying to raise $6,500 via this campaign. After fees this will leave Boston
Hassle with roughly $6,000 if successful. This amount is roughly 1/3 of the overall cost of throwing Hassle Fest 6. Funding
for the rest of the fest and its many costs* will come from ticket sales and
various fest sponsorships. This
Indiegogo campaign must succeed for the fest to go on as planned!
*Most of the costs for Hassle Fest are performer related, but there are other
costs as well including: Venue fees, printing, and art. Hassle Fest will
cost about $17,500 to put on. No individual in our organization receives any compensation for their effort in producing this festival.
Why Support This Campaign (and Boston Hassle)?
This
is our 6th annual Boston Hassle Fest. This year also marks our 4th crowd-sourced
fundraising effort on behalf of Hassle Fest. In each previous year we have
achieved our goal and each and every year the fest,
and with it our organization, has grown substantially.
By
contributing to this campaign and sharing it with others YOU show
your commitment to our core principle of offering affordable, all-ages shows featuring
engaging musical artists that are fairly compensated.
Together
with your support, we will not only succeed in throwing an incredible festival but more importantly we will demonstrate to Boston and the wider public that
there is a viable alternative, non-profit model for supporting
music and the arts, one that avoids the pitfalls of alcohol-driven profits and "safe," industry-sponsored musical acts. As our message travels farther and
reaches more ears we will hopefully have more opportunities to initiate and
support even more art-focused and community-minded projects.
Lend a Hand!
Please
share our campaign and our campaign video! We are into embeds and shares but
we are also into word of mouth! People used to do that before the internet! Remember that?!
The Boston Hassle webzine and the Boston Compass newspaper exist as platforms for artists,
writers, video makers, and designers (from New England and beyond) to showcase
their art. Use us as a platform, enrich what we do, and get your
work seen or heard by our huge worldwide readership and viewership.
WE ALSO NEED AWESOME PEOPLE (like
you!) TO VOLUNTEER WITH BOSTON HASSLE. Please get in touch about show listings, writing for the paper or website, taking photos, site/calendar maintenance, videography, organizational
help, social networking, Compass distribution, or ANY OTHER NEW IDEAS you may
have for what this organization could be. We are open to new ideas, in fact, WE
LOVE THEM. If what you’re into is not represented in our pages or on our site but you think it should be, TAKE INITIATIVE AND BECOME A PART OF WHAT WE'RE DOING! Get in touch at bostonhassle@gmail.com or take a look at one of these sites:

Stretch Goals
Reach for the sky! If you help us get beyond our goal of $6,500 you can support Boston Hassle in the following ways:
-
$7,500: We will purchase a new subwoofer so that we can bring in the best electronic music performers from around the world for your enjoyment.
-
$9,000: We will purchase a new PA system so that we can put on EVEN MORE than the 100+ shows we already do per year. And with a new PA each and every one of those shows will sound better and LOUDER than they already do.
-
$12,000: Boston Hassle will give back to you with a FREE SHOW HEADLINED BY LIGHTNING BOLT. Seriously.
Thanks again for stopping by our crowdfunding page! We hope you'll support us, either with a donation or with your time. A special thanks goes to Marina Argyriou, Stephen Hill, Sydney Kinchen, Matt Lundin, James Moore, and Véra Vidal for the excellent campaign video above! Party on dudes, and we'll see you in November!
