Who We Are
We are Humanoid Interactive, an independent development studio based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
Our small company consists of artists, animators and programmers. We work well together as a team and we hope to make a game that is not only fun to play, but also teaches people about Canadian and Aboriginal culture.
The Thule culture (pronounced Too-Lee) were the ancestors of all modern Inuit. They developed in coastal Alaska by AD 1000 and expanded eastwards across Canada, reaching Greenland by the 13th century.
These people lived in incredibly harsh arctic conditions hunting Bowhead whales for survival. They used whale oil for burning, they made clothing from animal skins, they even built their houses out of whale bones using tools also made from whale bones.
We decided to make this game not only to teach people about Aboriginal heritage but to incorporate Canadian culture as well. This game is about a seal hunter from Newfoundland in 1908 who finds himself lost in the North Atlantic after disaster strikes his sealing vessel. The first part of the game centers around rural Newfoundland life in the early 20th century.
People who contribute to the creation of this game are helping to spread Canadian culture to the whole world.

Why We Are Fundraising
This game will cost $247,000 to develop for PC and Mac. Some of this money will come from this campaign, some will come from grants, most of it however, will come from our own pockets. This campaign is not a means to pay for the entire game.
The budget for this game is roughly 1/4 the budget of a similar quality game. There are three reasons for this:
- The game will be developed using the Unity engine. This game engine is low cost and has many prefabbed scripts, which drastically lowers programming costs.
- Most of the concept, writing and game design work was done for free by the game's creators.
- The people working on the game have multiple talents. Your average game studio would have each person assigned to a specific task. Each member of our team is responsible for multiple different types of tasks. Less salaries means a cheaper game.
Game Details
Bowhead will be developed for Microsoft Windows and Apple OSX using the Unity engine. This powerful game engine allows for multiple styles of gameplay. In Bowhead you will regularly switch between first and third person view depending on your environment. Unity also allows for extensive graphics card options, which allows you to make the game look as good as possible on your computer.
Mobile Plans
We plan to port Bowhead to Android and iOS if we can raise $350,000
T-shirts Available at $40 Perk
