Know when you need to ventilate your home.  Place BREATHE|Smart in the kitchen or children's nursery/bedroom so you get alarms when air quality reaches dangerous levels.

People who suffer from chronic respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma are especially vulnerable to the detrimental effects of air pollutants. Cyclists breathe more deeply and at a quicker rate than pedestrians while in closer proximity to exhaust fumes, which can increase the number of airborne particles penetrating the lungs. Air is drawn into the device with a fan and passed through a laser based particle sensor which uses light scattering method to detect and count particles ensuring accurate measurement of fine dust in the air.

The touch display shows the current air pollution levels, as well as data for up to 30 days exposure.

Chris Turner developed the BREATHE|Smart monitor because he was worried about the poor quality of the air where he lives in London.

"As a parent living in a busy city, I'm constantly concerned about the negative effects of air pollution on my family’s health, and with every new study, the evidence gets stronger.

I read that even if you can’t avoid it completely, exposure to air pollution could be reduced by as much as 50%, just by adjusting the route we take to work, school or nursery.

I looked at what was available and there was nothing that would simply show me the air quality when and where I wanted - whether that was at home, walking to work, or on the bus.

So I decided to design my own solution, the BREATHE|Smart monitor

As with any project, there are risks and challenges in engineering and manufacturing but we've done our best to minimise risks for backers.  We've completed our design for manufacturing and have completed three generations of prototypes.  Our electronics and firmware are also at an advanced stage.

We have intentionally set a conservative timeline to ensure our product can be manufactured to the highest quality and delivered to you on time, however unexpected delays could occur due to manufacturing issues, and other reasons which we cannot foresee.
