The Pinnacle of a 25 Year Career

Greetings, friends and supporters!

I'm Michael Walters, a dedicated performer whose journey has taken me from the stages of Los Angeles to Broadway. No role holds a more special place in my heart than my tribute to Dame Edna.

I first donned Dame Edna's rhinestone glasses in 1998. As the world's longest-running Dame Edna tribute artist, I'm proud to present the world's only fully-staged homages to her famous live shows. Now, I'm on the brink of a penultimate milestone: my Off-Broadway debut with "Overdressed for the Apocalypse" at the Triad Theatre opening September 7, 2024.

This production promises an evening of uproarious comedy, sensational musical numbers, and fabulous gowns—much like my previous shows, such as "Something Like a Dame" and "An Audience with Edna." The Triad, a grand yet intimate venue, is the perfect home for Edna's hilarious brand of "caring and sharing."

Following my premiere performances, we seek to continue the show's run at the Triad off-Broadway followed by a tour of Cabaret venues across the Country - and maybe the world!

Dame Edna's Legacy

Dame Edna, a global icon from Australia to the UK, Canada and the US, became a New York legend beginning in 1999 and has a TONY Award-winning legacy of three smash-hit Broadway shows. Despite Barry Humphries, the man behind Dame Edna, passing away in 2023, their legacies live on. As proof, My own tribute to the "Diva from Down Under" has been eagerly enjoyed by scores of fans and newcomers from 1998 to the present.

Yes, I've had the privilege of meeting Dame Edna's creator, Barry Humphries, whose constant kindness was invaluable to me.

My new production, the first fully-staged Dame Edna tribute in New York City, not only honors our Grande Dame of comedy but also fulfills the desires of her devoted fans.

What it Takes:

This production can't happen without your support! Top-tier quality and production standards are essential for our debut in New York City. To do Dame Edna justice, I'm building a stellar production team.

• Costumes crafted by one of Broadway's very established artists who creates iconic costumes for New York's most famous stars at Broadway's go-to production studio.
• High quality sound equipment, including updated microphones to ensure the very best experience for audiences
• Special material and music written by a legendary comedian whose punchlines and tunes have been performed by countless showbiz greats
• Securing the historic Triad Theatre as our off-Broadway home
• Strategic marketing to maximize our impact and make the most of your generous support 
• Musical Accompaniment by an accomplished musical director who has collaborated with countless well-known singers and cabaret stars
• A set for the show with dazzling yet economical and modular components for touring
• Video recording to share the show with out-of-state Indiegogo supporters, and to market the show to national and international markets.
   

The Plan

The dream we are working toward is a limited run at the Triad Theatre in New York City followed by a tour of cabaret venues around the world.

This initial funding goal will help us build the show and get it off the ground. After that, we know it can be a smash hit and garner its own momentum based on rave reviews and strategic publicity. There are always risks, but rest assured your contributions will only and always be used for help produce this show wherever and whenever we can
