As with any feature film, there’s a lot of factors that
affect its success. The script, the actors, and the director are at the top of
that list, but it still takes many artists and individuals to make a movie and
we already have many of the key people in place who will help make Broken Glass
a success.
Beginning with the writer/producer/director, Bill Johns, Broken Glass has a great head start. Bill
was the director of photography on six feature films and has won three Silver
Tellys and two Bronze for filmmaking excellence. He completed and got
distribution for his own feature film, ‘Madness’ which he wrote, produced,
edited and directed. The film even got
four out of five stars on the indie film site FilmThreat.com.
His work on seven other feature
films has given him the experience to adapt quickly to the changing environments
of feature film production and whether he was Director of Photography, or editor,
or in charge of special effects, he always came through with images and FX that
rivaled his Hollywood counterparts. He even earned the moniker, ‘On-Set
MacGyver’ for his ability to solve problems quickly and creatively.
Here are some test scenes Bill shot for Broken Glass:
Bill is also an accomplished
screenwriter, with six feature length and four short film scripts under his
belt. Feedback from script competitions and industry professionals has been
very positive and Broken Glass is promising to be another great example of Bill’s
creative style and unique storylines.
Next to consider is the talent for
the film. We plan to pursue A-List actors for the leading roles, beginning with
someone to play Cora who will bring her to life and help us gain a foothold
with a reputable distributor.

Although money is the obvious answer,
we also need things that money can’t buy. Your word-of-mouth can make a huge
impact on the success of our campaign. Whether it’s to tell your friends and
family about our Indiegogo page or to create an eager audience for our film
once it’s released, word-of-mouth is an amazingly effective tool.
We also need contacts with
agencies, actors, distributors, and various media platform executives, to open
the doors that are often closed to independent filmmakers.
For instance, we plan to pursue
some very famous actresses to play the part of Cora. The short list includes: Chloe
Moretz, Daisy Ridley, Elle Fanning and Lily-Rose Depp. Having one of them attached to the
project will not only raise awareness exponentially, but will also open up a
host of financing options since distribution on some level will be nearly
guaranteed.
However, if we’re unable to secure
the high powered talent we seek, we still believe the story, imagery and acting
will make for an amazing motion picture that everyone will want to see.
We’re only seeking to raise $50,000.00
and with that goal in mind, we can make the movie. Obviously it won’t have any
big names attached, but we can still get it done. Now the downside - we’ve specified ‘flexible
funding’ so that no matter what we raise we can keep and use the money for the
early stages of the film’s production.
PLEASE NOTE: I don’t want to mislead anyone into
thinking that if we only raise a few thousand dollars that we’ll be able to
make the movie, however we can use those limited funds to reach out to talent,
financiers and distributors to try and get the film off the ground by other
means. Be assured, every dollar will go towards pursuing this dream. So, even if we can’t complete the film, we
will be documenting the entire process and creating a film about the journey,
so that you can share in the trials and tribulations of the filmmaking process.
This documentary would then be the replacement video for the perks that specify
a video link, DVD, or BluRay.

Imagine going to a movie at your
local theater with all your friends and as the lights go down you lean over and
whisper, “I helped make this movie.” That alone is pretty cool, but then
imagine you’re wearing an exclusive T-Shirt from the film, or you see your name
in the closing credits. I think that’s pretty exciting.
The perks are pretty awesome and
the more you give, the more you get, so please lend a hand and help us make an
amazing motion picture – Thanks for everything!
