In Australia alone, toothbrushes amount to approximately 1,000 tonnes of landfill each year. Plastic toothbrushes aren’t biodegradable and they just keep piling up and contaminate our environment. Not to even mention their packaging! Let’s not brush this off anymore, there is an alternative: Brush It On.

We take the war on plastic seriously and that’s why 100% of our profits go directly to specific environmental projects. Our oceans need your help! Plastic rubbish is predicted to outweigh fish in our oceans by 2050. Nemo was designed to help The Australian Marine Conservation Society on their mission to keep the world’s oceans clean.
Each Nemo toothbrush contributes to their programs focused on keeping our oceans in their healthiest and most natural state, without pressures from overfishing and pollution. Every four bamboo toothbrushes help distribute a living plastic-free pack to raise awareness around plastic pollution.

Nemo was designed by Abbey Rich, a multidisciplinary artist working across canvas, walls, paper and the body. Based in Melbourne, once running a clothing label now painting murals, running screen printing workshops, hand poking tattoos and drawing incessantly. |

Did you know 4,500 acres of forests are cleared across the planet every hour? Tarzan is here to support World Land Trust in protecting threatened habitats and wildlife.
Every single Tarzan toothbrush contributes to the "Buy an Acre" programme and helps buy 23m2 of rainforest to create permanently protected nature reserves across the globe. World Land Trust works with partner organisations across the world to help fund land purchase and create nature reserves.

Animals living on this planet are in serious danger. 150-200 species become extinct every 24 hours! Lassie's aim is to help World Animal Protection on their mission to protect animals across the world.
Each Lassie toothbrush helps free bears from captivity and support bear sanctuaries. Every fifteen brushes provide a rescued bear with vital medication to help keep them healthy and strong on the road to recovery.

Our Bamboo Toothbrushes
Better for you. Better for the environment.
All our brushes are built from high-quality sustainable bamboo. Their handles are ergonomically designed for a good grip and fully compostable at the same time. The soft gentle bristles are made of durable Nylon 6. Our eco-friendly packaging is as minimalist as possible, without any marketing bells and whistles.

- As we grow, we plan to set up a distribution centre in the USA and Europe to minimise the impact of shipping
Packaging
We're still in the process of finalising our packaging. Rest assured, we're looking for the most minimalist and eco-friendly options the manufacturer can offer. At this stage, all toothbrushes will come individually packed. In the long term, we'll have different packages available to reduce the amount of material used.
Bristles
Our bristles are made of durable Nylon 6. Please break off the bristle head or remove the bristles with pliers before composting the handle. Although plant-based bristles are being currently worked on, they are much softer and only last for a few weeks. While we continue our search for compostable bristle solutions, we believe a durable toothbrush with long-wearing bristles is a more sustainable option at this point. By supporting our project, you're helping us in our quest to find a better bristle option for you and the planet.
Kids toothbrush
For the purpose of this campaign, we only offer our Lassie toothbrush in the kids size. Moving forward, we're planning to have all designs available in both sizes. Please choose "Animals" cause, and "Kids" size in the check-out process.![]()
Next steps
We plan to set up an e-shop by March 2019 to offer you a subscription plan, so that you never have to think about buying a toothbrush again. We'll keep you posted once this option is available.
Why Bamboo
A bamboo toothbrush eliminates unnecessary waste while giving you the same quality of cleaning that a plastic brush can offer. Bamboo is naturally antimicrobial and its properties kill bacteria that penetrate it’s surface, providing long-lasting protection against harmful bacteria.
Our toothbrushes are sustainably sourced from the Zhengjiang province in China. They're made of MOSO bamboo, which is a type that Giant Panda don't like. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on Earth and regenerates itself naturally without the need for harmful pesticides.

The idea came from a desire to protect this planet for future generations. When Viv was pregnant with her now 3-month old baby girl, she learnt there is meant to be more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050. She got quite upset about that prospect and decided she wanted to take an active part in saving our planet.
Viv reached out to Alice and together they created Brush It On to help people make conscious choices without sacrificing their lifestyle. Together, they aim to bring more awareness to the plastic pollution issue we face today.

Future Vision
This is just the beginning of our journey to help save the planet for future generations. We want to make bamboo toothbrushes mainstream. We plan to get them into the shops and supermarkets to make them easily available and more affordable. We'll bring you new fresh designs each year and will work further on more sustainable bristle options and packaging.
