Building a Better Learning Environment
Osa Conservation is dedicated to protecting the globally
significant biodiversity of Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula. This includes
supporting the people of the Osa as well, by empowering local communities to
take part in the stewardship of the natural treasure they call home.

We are raising money to build a new community school for
schoolchildren on one acre of land that Osa Conservation is donating to Costa
Rica's Ministry of Public Education. This brand-new
learning facility for schoolchildren will be easily accessible and close to the
new Osa Verde sustainable farm. Proximity
to the farm will provide ample opportunities for experiential, hands-on
learning and allow the next generation of Osa residents to
participate in local and international conservation efforts.

The new “Escuela de Río Piro” will be a vast improvement
from the current structure and will feature new desks, bookshelves, upgraded
restrooms and a soccer field. In addition to land, Osa Conservation and its
local partners will donate wood, a metal roof and labor to the project.
