Important UPDATE, thank you sooooo much for helping us reach our second goal of €7.000 so that we can also build a kitchen and children can have lunch at school, as well as a playground so that they can enjoy as we all did when we were young! You are just amazing, we will all together make this world a better place to live!
Unfortunately a lot of children don’t have the
same opportunities like the ones in the Western world and lack of education is
usual in many countries. Through #Build2learn we want to create better conditions for children to learn by building a classroom for the kindergarten in the Co Bi commune in the Hai Duong province in the north of Vietnam. There
is nothing more heartwarming and hopeful than creating opportunities for
children and seeing them happy.
For those who already don’t
know us, we are Elpis and Dora, a Greek couple travelling the world,
documenting our travels, fundraising and contributing to causes and communities in need. So
far we have already raised around $45.000 for 7 amazing projects in Europe, Africa and Asia. At the moment we are on a 6 month journey through
Asia, called AsiaQuest project and Vietnam is our 8th stop!

We are convinced that
all children should have equal opportunities to education. They are the future
of this world and a safe learning environment and access to knowledge will let
them make this world a better place. Co Bi is a poor commune of Binh Giang
district in Hai Duong province in the North of Vietnam. It has approximately 6,436 people. Most of
them live on agriculture and living standard is quite low. The state of the current classes in Co Bi
community is quite poor. When summer comes, it can be very hot while it is cold
in the winter. It is even worse when the water drips into the classrooms when
it rains. In the mean time, this school is seriously overcrowded that doesn’t reach
the standard of a kindergarten class. With your help we want to build one of the two new
classrooms for the Co Bi kindergarten, making the everyday life of these
children a bit easier.
This is our second big
project in our AsiaQuest. We left Greece
on the 14th of December 2015 with a plan to spend 6 months on the
road in Asia, creating a documentary about the countries we visit and
contributing to important causes. Our first stop was India and then we headed
to Nepal where we successfully complete the #GreenhouseProject. With the help
of 239 people we raised €5.701 euro which allowed us to build the greenhouse in
the small community of Takure and also plant the first saplings, something that
will help the community in many years to come.
What We Need & What You Get
We are collaborating for the project with the local NGO ''Volunteers for Peace Vietnam'' and in order
to successfully complete the project and build the new classroom for the
kindergarten we need to raise 5.500€. This money will cover the costs of the
building material such as steel, cement, bricks, door, windows and the tools. There will be no costs for labour as it will
be provided by us, few amazing friends from Greece that will come and join us (Giorgos, Xrysa, Apostolos, Apostolia, Roula, Tatiana, Sofia, Stephen, Kostas and Iliana), as well as local people who will give a show us the way and give a hand! After the foundation, we will all together lay bricks, put up the rood, paint the wall and make the floor and playground :)
In order to get more schools from Greece involved, we want to invite as many teachers and children as possible, to draw and send us some drawings to decorate the walls of the new class. Also, through our #EmailExchange program, children from Greece can communicate with children from Vietnam and share information about their countries, cultures, traditions, etc.
Of course
your contribution will not go unnoticed! As we want 100% of the money collected
to go towards building the classroom, we have decided to reward you with a
cost-free perk. Each of you will receive a personal “Thank you” picture with
your name on from one of the children in the kindergarten in the Co Bi commune!

The Impact
''Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world'', Nelson Mandela said, we definitely agree. In many
countries, often the conditions are making the learning
process hard or noon existent. We believe that it is important to help create a
safer learning environment for the children in Co Bi. An environment that is
taken for granted where we come from.
Everyone should have equal opportunities and access to education! Let’s
make a small contribution today and change this world a bit to a better place!
During our Afriquest we completed a similar project (Help2learn) in Kenya,
in the Kibera slum of Nairobi. With your help we managed to build a new
classroom, library and playground for the children of the school. It was
nothing more heartwarming than seeing the smiles on the faces of the children
there. We are convinced that all the children should have equal opportunities,
we wish we could do even more than what we already do.
