My Dream, My Passion, My Vision
Four years ago I moved to Lincoln,
Nebraska and fell in love with the local live music scene. It all began at The
Cask, where I worked as a bartender and became enthralled with the live music
we had every Friday and Saturday. My involvement in local live music grew into
friendships with the musicians, booking music, managing musicians, creating and
running an open mic night, and lastly, creating a business centered around
helping local musicians and music-related ventures with social media,
marketing, and promotion.
Through my experience with local live
music in Lincoln, as a music fan, working in venues as a bartender/booking
agent/event planner, and on the musician’s side of things as a manager, I
developed a dream to create a music venue that was centered around supporting
local artists, paying artists a decent wage, respecting artists, having the
best sound possible, and as a result, creating an incredible live music
experience for fans through our focus on having very happy artists.
I found a home for my vision at the
Night Owl Pub when I struck up a business partnership between myself, with
Storm Media Management, and the owner, Chris Rosiak. I relocated my open mic
from The Cask to the Night Owl, purchased over $1000 worth of equipment, named
my open mic Lincoln Open Mic Night, and took over booking music at the Night
Owl, all in the span of a few weeks. Things are going REALLY well! But we NEED
more equipment!
Because the Night Owl Pub is so
focused on supporting all things local—local breweries, local musicians, local
writers, local artists—I’ve decided to help speed the equipment purchase and
installation along by calling on local people to support this mission. The goal
here is to raise enough money to purchase the rest of the equipment we need to
have stage lighting and all sound permanently placed, ready for an artist or band
to plug in, and a sound booth for professional sound engineers to operate.

***If you're into Lincoln history, the system being purchased here is from the old Duggan's Pub and it's kind of a nice passing of the torch from one historical music venue to another working on making history.
LED
Stage Lighting
The
first order of business is going to be getting all of the sound equipment in,
so even if the goal isn’t reached, what money is raised will be going to the
sound equipment first, stage and lighting second.
If
we exceed the goal, the extra money will go to sound engineers, additional
sound equipment, and other things needed to enhance the live music experience for
everyone!
What you'll get is an incredible new home for live local music and art here in Lincoln!
The Impact
I have a much larger vision for the
Night Owl Pub than just creating a new live music venue. I’m taking my love of
our local music here in Lincoln to a new level with my business, Storm Media
Management. I’m taking photo and video of the artists and writing about them in
my blog. I’m building a YouTube channel full of amazing local talent and I plan
to use my increasing knowledge of social media to spread the word far beyond
Lincoln.
The Night Owl Pub is my home base,
and has all the ingredients necessary to create a new music scene here in
Lincoln. A great music venue can do that. The timing couldn’t be better as
Lincoln is becoming recognized as a music city while simultaneously losing a
great deal of live music venues (most recently Knickerbockers and The Cask to
name a few.)
We have an AWESOME team working to
bring all of this together. The Night Owl has a very enthusiastic, hard-working
owner in Chris as well as Red Rebel Media building a killer website for The
Night Owl and running social media promotional efforts, and then there’s me
with all my drive and passion running Lincoln Open Night through Storm Media
Management.
We’ve already created an awesome
green room, which is about to have its walls lined with black and white, signed
posters of all our “green-room-worthy” local artists who’ve played The Owl. It
looks like something straight out of Rolling Stone magazine and we are already
imagining photos of bands chilling on the L-shaped couches surrounded by all the
black and white, signed posters.
Risks & Challenges
There’s no risk here, just the
challenge of getting all the tools we need to grow at a faster rate with the
help of the community than we’d be able to accomplish on our own. If you’re a
musician, music-lover, a writer, an artist, or an art-lover, then it’s
beneficial for you to jump on board and throw a few dollars into this campaign,
because we’re creating a home for you guys!
