Story Summary
"Bullying the bully" addresses the current, prominent issue of
bullying among children. The film depicts students who are
physically larger other students, unleashing terror on younger,
smaller students by demanding that they turn over their possessions.
When we think of bullying, we often visualize a significant size
difference between the students, labeling the more developed student
as the bully. Research shows that this is not always the case. A
student may be small in size, but have a significant amount of power.
You can make a difference
The goal of this project is to open of the lines of communication by educating student, parents and school staff about bullying. Students should know what bullying is and they will also learn how to address it safely. Parents should check in with their children, asking about school and any other concerns that their child may face. School staff should encourage activities, hobbies and special interests that boost self -esteem and confidence. All adults should model healthy relationships and make it a priority to protect children from bullying.
“Bullying the Bully” will provide opportunities for those directly and indirectly impacted by bullying to come together for a common cause.
While the project will be consumer run, the organizing will also involve professionals who will share their skills, and sponsors who will contribute their resources.
The project creates several opportunities to educate people around ways to identify bullying behavior and offer a variety of prevention methods.
Our hope is that parents, school staff and social service staff will join us in educating the community; participating not only as experts but with an open mind; to learn from victims of bullying.
The film will be an educational forum to people who like to go to movies. The educational goals will be effective because the film medium is entertaining and will attract the general public.
Hundreds will be directly impacted by being in the audience and having the experience of being a bully, knowing a bully or having cross paths with a victim of bullying. Many more will be indirectly impacted by receiving the message from others and realizing the need to address this growing epidemic. The expectation is that people will share the information with their peers/community and there will be less reports of this aggressive behavior.
